FEBRUARY 12, 2001

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, February 12, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers City Hall.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Fromm, Wegner and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Randy Goulden.

Staff Members present: Wayne Jensen, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Stu McFadyen, Jody Hauta, Jerry Cheshuk, Lonnie Kaal, Terri Eger, Bill Hawkins and S/Sgt. Martin. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the Chair called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

HEARING OF PETITIONS

Parkland District Scouts - Scout Guide Week – February 18-25, 2001

A letter dated January 26, 2001 from the Secretary/Treasurer of the Parkland District Scouts – Scouts Canada was circulated for the consideration of Council.

Mr. John Spykerman along with a few representatives from Scouts Canada were present in Council Chambers and James Ferrier spoke to their request.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton authorize Mayor Phil De Vos to proclaim the week of February 18 to 25, 2001 as "Scout-Guide Week" in the City of Yorkton and to raise their flag on Sunday, February 18, 2001.

Duck Mountain Ski Area – Presentation of an Improvement Plan

A letter dated February 5, 2001 from the Area Manager at Duck Mountain Ski Area was circulated for the consideration of Council.

Mr. Ken Helmkay, Area Manager was present in Council Chambers to make a presentation on behalf of the Duck Mountain Ski Area.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton accept Recommendation No. 01-007 and No. 01-008 as contained in the Leisure Services Commission Meeting Minutes of January 19, 2001 to adopt the tournament rates for 2001 as follows:

1 – 24 people $25.00

25 – 74 people $20.00

75 and up $18.00

and;

That the Junior Membership age classification be changed from 14 and under to 18 and under and that the membership fee for this new category shall be $100.00 for the 2001 season, and that GST will be charged to anyone over 14 years of age.
