APRIL 23, 2001

Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, April 23, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers City Hall.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Fromm, Goulden, Wegner and Wyatt.

Staff Members Present: Wayne Jensen, Lonnie Kaal, Jim Ennis, Gord Bulmer, Jody Hauta, Stu McFadyen, Scott Mack, Jerry Cheshuk, Terri Eger, Bonnie Schenher, and S/Sgt. Martin. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the Chair called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor De Vos congratulated all the organizers and volunteers of the Spring Expo for a job well done.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton accept Recommendation No. 01-017 as contained in the Municipal Planning Commission Meeting Minutes of April 4, 2001 that Zoning Bylaw 9/96, Section 3.22 – Fences be amended to provide for a maximum fence height of 1.0m in front yards and 2.45m in the rear and side yards and instruct Administration to prepare the necessary amendments to the Zoning Bylaw.

Mayor De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, Fromm and Wegner opposed.

Councillor DeRyk explained his concerns of the implications of the re-assessment this year. We do have the option to phase in re-assessment. He is suggesting that re-assessment be phased in over the next four years with a zero percent phase-in in 2001.
