JUNE 25, 2001

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, June 25, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers City Hall.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Fromm, Goulden, Wegner and Wyatt.

Staff Members Present: Wayne Jensen, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Lonnie Kaal, Matt Bernat, Gord Bulmer, Terri Eger, Jody Hauta and William Hawkins. Recording: Bonnie Schenher.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the Chair called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Council was circulated with a memorandum dated June 19, 2001 from Janet Hill, Chairman of the Protective Services Commission requesting funding allocations.

Director of Finance – Financial Statement for the Year Ended December 31, 2000

The Financial Statement for the year ended December 31, 2000 were circulated for the consideration of Council.

Mr. Bill Parker, the City’s Auditor was present in Council Chambers to answer any questions that Council had.

City Manager – Life Lease Project

A Memorandum dated June 19, 2001 in regards to the Life Lease Project was circulated for the consideration of Council. Mr. Doug Rogers, Project Manager, Sask. Housing was present in Council Chambers to answer any questions that Council may have.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton accept the recommendation of the Municipal Planning Commission to rezone Lot 2, Block 71, Plan 75Y08448 from R3 Multi-unit dwellings, to R4 Highrise Apartments, that the City of Yorkton support the life lease project to a maximum financial contribution of $500,000, that funding come from the sale of land, and the balance from the 2002 and 2003 budgets of the City of Yorkton.

That we accept Recommendation No. C00061-2001 as contained in the Committee of the Whole Council Meeting Minutes of June 25, 2001 to reinstate the parking on the northbound traffic lane of Dracup on a trial basis of a one year period and bring it back for a review at that time.

That we accept Recommendation No. C00064-2001 that the Yorkton Public School Board be requested to advise the City if and when they proceed with the transfer of Century Field and the two soccer fields to Yorkton Public School Division No. 93 and that if title is transferred the City is prepared to enter into a contract with the Yorkton Public School Division to provide maintenance services if required.
