OCTOBER 15, 2001

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, October 15, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers City Hall.

Present: Mayor De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Fromm, Goulden and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Lawrence Wegner.

Staff Members Present: Wayne Jensen, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Lonnie Kaal, Jim Ennis, Scott Mack, Gord Bulmer and Bill Hawkins. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor De Vos in the Chair called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Yorkton Chamber of Commerce – Proclamation

Small Business Week

A letter from the Chamber of Commerce dated September 24, 2001 was circulated for the consideration of Council.

Mr. Richard Okrainec, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Joan McPake, General Manager of the Chamber of Commerce were present in Council Chambers and Mr. Okrainec spoke to their request.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton authorize Mayor De Vos to proclaim the week of October 21 to 27, 2001 as "Small Business Week" in the City of Yorkton.

Untidy & Unsightly Premises

Dennis Lachance – 213 Fourth Avenue North

An Order to clean up the premises at 213 Fourth Avenue North was circulated for the consideration of Council. There was no one present in Council Chambers to speak to this order. It was noted that Mr. Lachance came into the City Clerk’s office in the afternoon to advise that he would be unable to appear at tonight’s meeting.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton authorize Administration to proceed with the Order to clean up the property located at 213 – 4th Avenue North with the costs of the clean up to be added to and form part of the tax roll.

An Order to clean up the property located at 189 Maple Avenue was circulated for the consideration of Council. There was no one present in Council Chambers to speak to this Order.

Booster Hockey Club Inc. Contract

A memorandum dated September 24, 2001 from the General Manager of the Parkland Agriplex along with a proposed contract were circulated for the consideration of Council.

A letter dated September 21, 2001 from the General Manager at the Travelodge regarding a pedestrian crosswalk was circulated for the consideration of Council.
