REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

MARCH 22, 2004

Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, March 22, 2004 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, Hill, Maloney, Schmidt and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Randy Goulden.

Staff Members Present: Wayne Jensen, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Dean Clark, Lonnie Kaal, Jeff Humble, Bill Hawkins, Darcy McLeod, Don Kunkel, Gord Bulmer, Troy LaFreniere, S/Sgt. Gourlay and Kelly Kaban. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Schmidt acknowledged the Celebrate Success Awards held on March 11, 2004 and congratulated all the businesses that were recognized. A special congratulation to Councillor Hill on their award.

Mayor Phil De Vos introduced Scott Stelmaschuk a Grade 11 student from Sacred Heart School. He is job shadowing the Mayor for a day. He also advised that he had spoken with Clay Serby our MLA who is doing well, his spirits are very high and everything has been successful.

Family Child Care Home – 283 First Avenue North

A memorandum dated March 16, 2004 from the Development Officer regarding a discretionary use application for a Family Child Care home was circulated for the consideration of Council.

That the Council of the City of Yorkton approve the Discretionary Use Application of Ms. Karen Chopty under the City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003, Section 7.3 – Family Child Care Home and Section 9.1.2. – Discretionary Uses: Residential Care Homes, provided that all the regulations and licensing requirements are approved by the Province and subject to obtaining a City of Yorkton Business License for 283 First Avenue North.
