REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

MARCH 21, 2005

 

Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, March 21, 2005 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Goulden, Hill, Maloney, Schmidt and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Arnelien.

Staff Members Present: Wayne Jensen, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Lonnie Kaal, Dean Clark and Kelly Kaban. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

That the Agenda for this Regular Council Meeting be approved as presented.

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Schmidt congratulated Mrs. Colleen Bailey for receiving the Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal recently.

Councillor Goulden advised that Yorkton hosted the Western Canadian Snow Cross Races and thanked the Volunteer Committee that organized it.

Councillor Maloney passed condolences to Earl Park’s family. Earl taught the City of Yorkton to dance and was one of the nicest men anyone could meet. Councillor Maloney also judged at the Provincial Debate Championships at the Yorkton Regional High School on the weekend and noted lots of young people from across the Province did themselves proud. .

Mayor De Vos advised that the Perogy Cup was a big success and confirmed the Yorkton Team did extremely well on the Debate Championships and congratulated Whitney Skinner who is going to represent Yorkton in the World Debate.

Dwight and Tammy Ruf – Daylight Savings Time

A letter dated March 16, 2005 from Dwight and Tammy Ruf regarding Daylight Savings Time was circulated for the information of Council.

Dwight and Tammy Ruf were present in Council Chambers and Dwight gave a brief presentation on Daylight Savings Time.
