AUGUST 8, 2005

 

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, August 8, 2005 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Phil De Vos, Councillors Arnelien, Goulden, Hill, Maloney, Schmidt and Wyatt.

Staff Members Present: Jeff Humble, Laurie-Anne Rusnak, Lonnie Kaal, Cindy Alcorn, Gord Bulmer, Kelly Kaban, Sheldon Kostyshyn and Candice Lee. Recording: Shawna Kriger-Kemp.

A quorum being present Mayor Phil De Vos in the chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Goulden thanked and acknowledged all the people involved for doing such a great job with the Thresherman's Show and Senior's Festival that was held at the Western Development Museum on July 31 and August 1, 2005.

Councillor Schmidt acknowledged the many successful Centennial Celebrations in Yorkton and surrounding area as well she thanked Bylaw Officer Doug Jaques for touring her around the City with respect to the property standards issue.

Mayor Phil De Vos advised that the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce is hosting "Agriculture Days" this week and a rodeo will be held this weekend. He indicated that the Park Parties went very well as did the Yorkton in Bloom 2005 Contest. As well, he advised that the Centennial Parades in the surrounding communities were a great success.

Bylaw No. 17/2005 – Property Standards Bylaw

That Bylaw No. 17/2005, a bylaw of the City of Yorkton to regulate property standards within the City of Yorkton, be amended by adding the following Interpretation "Suitable Cover means a vehicle cover designated specifically for the sole purpose of protecting a vehicle from the elements, or a temporary/portable fabric type cover-all structure, placed on the property in accordance with any law respecting the erection of buildings and structures in force within the City in which the land is situated".
