REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 7, 2008
Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, January 7, 2008 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Mayor Chris Wyatt, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Goulden, Maloney, Pearen and Wilson.
Staff Members Present: Darcy McLeod, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Fran Brimacombe, Michael Buchholzer, Trent Mandzuk, Tricia Strutynski and Gord Bulmer.
A quorum being present Mayor Chris Wyatt in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Mayor Wyatt asked Councillor Goulden to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in Ukrainian for all the citizens celebrating by the Julian Calendar.

That the Regular Council Meeting Minutes of December 17th, 2007 be approved as presented.

HEARING OF PETITIONS, PUBLIC NOTICES AND PRESENTATIONS
Environmental Public Health Week – Proclamation – January 14th to 18th, 2008
A letter dated December 19, 2007 from the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors along with pertinent background information requesting a proclamation were circulated for the consideration of Council.
Mr. Jon Gaudry, CIPHI Sk, Branch Councillor, was present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

That Council authorize Mayor Chris Wyatt to proclaim the week of January 14th to 18th, 2008 as “Environmental Public Health Week” in the City of Yorkton.

Yorkton Sno-Riders – Proclamation – Get Ready to Ride Week – January 13th to 19th, 2008
A letter dated January 2, 2008 from the Yorkton Sno-Riders Inc. regarding a proclamation was circulated for the consideration of Council.
Mr. Jason Popowich, President of the Yorkton Sno-Riders Inc. was present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

That Council authorize Mayor Chris Wyatt to proclaim the week of January 13th to 19th, 2008 as “Get Ready to Ride Week” in the City of Yorkton.

Tourism Yorkton – 2007 Annual Report
A letter dated December 5, 2007 from Tourism Yorkton along with a copy of their 2007 Annual Report were circulated for the consideration of Council.
Mr. Neil Thom, President of Tourism Yorkton was present in Council Chambers to speak to their report.

That Council receive and file the 2007 Annual Tourism Yorkton Report as presented.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
Manager of Engineering – Discounted Bus Pass Pilot Program
A report dated December 21, 2007 from the Manager of Engineering along with a draft Letter of Understanding between the City of Yorkton and Ministry of Social Services regarding the Discounted Bus Pass Pilot Program were circulated for the consideration of Council.

That Administration be authorized to execute the Letter of Understanding as submitted by the Ministry of Social Services for the continuation of the Discounted Bus Pass Program for a nine-month period beginning January 1st, 2008.
