MAY 12, 2008

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, May 12, 2008 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Chris Wyatt, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Goulden, Maloney, and Wilson.

Absent: Councillor Larry Pearen.

Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Roger Hunter, Wayne Reinhardt, Tricia Strutynski and Darcy McLeod. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Chris Wyatt in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor DeRyk commented on how immaculate the greens are at the golf course due to the conscientious work done by Leo Skaluba and his crew at the golf course. This is the best shape the golf course has been in in many years and he asked

Darcy McLeod to pass on his congratulations and thank you to the staff at Deer Park.

Councillor Goulden advised that the Yorkton Sports Hall of Fame and Museum held their Induction Dinner on Saturday. She thanked the Board in promoting the tradition of sport in our city and also to this year’s Inductees John Zeeben for baseball, Betty Cheavins for figure skating, Arden Knoll for golf, David Baron as a builder and to the 1997 bantam Key Chev Olds Terrier Hockey Team. She thanked the Inductees for the fine work they have done.

Mayor Wyatt advised he was at the Bell Walk for the “Kids Help Phone” on May 4th and it was an excellent day, Councillor Maloney was emceeing and he noted there were quite a number of young people out. It shows us that we have a lot of great leaders coming up for the future of our Province and our Country. Nice to see so many young people involved and quite a few were high on the pledge list so they did well fundraising. Thanks to all the organizers for a great day.
