SEPTEMBER 28, 2009

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, September 28, 2009 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Chris Wyatt, Councillors Arnelien, DeRyk, Goulden, Maloney, Pearen and Wilson.

Staff Members present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Roger Hunter, Darcy McLeod, Faisal Anwar, Michael Eger, Don Kunkel, Amber Harvey, Kurtis Peterson and Kelly Kaban. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor Chris Wyatt in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

That the Regular Council Agenda and the Committee of the Whole Council Agenda be approved as presented.

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Goulden received a new book entitled “Saskatchewan Ghost Stories” and Yorkton is included. There is an article about the “Haunts of Yorkton” written by Kathy Morrell who was a resident of the City of Yorkton.

Mayor Wyatt attended a presentation on Saturday at the Habitat for Humanity home which was presented to Ms. Corey Anderson and her three children. Council is proud to be a part of the project. He thanked all the people involved in helping with this home, the organizers, the Trade’s people, and the volunteer workers.

Public Health Sunrise Health Region – Proclamation – Breastfeeding Week – October 1st to 7th, 2009

A letter and proclamation received September 16, 2009 from the Public Health Department of the Sunrise Health Region were circulated for the consideration of Council.
Ms. Donna Milbrandt from the Health Region was present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay – Proclamation – “100 Day Kickoff” – October 1st, 2009

A letter dated September 22, 2009 from the Yorkton Task Force for the Olympic Torch Relay was circulated for the consideration of Council.
Ms. Tami Hall was present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

That Council authorize Mayor Chris Wyatt to recognize October 1st, 2009 as “100 Day Kick Off” to the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Yorkton by raising the Olympic Torch Relay Route Community Flag at City Hall Park at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1st, 2009.
