FEBRUARY 14, 2011

Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, February 14, 2011 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor James Wilson, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Maloney, Pearen and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Richard Okrainec.

Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Gord Shaw, Darcy McLeod, Keith Gervais, Michael Eger, Michael Buchholzer, Lisa Washington and Brant Hryhorczuk. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor James Wilson in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Bob Maloney reminded everyone of the Snowarama for Camp Easter Seals coming up on Saturday, February 19th, 2011 at the Gallagher Centre. This one day event raises over $100,000 to help send children with disabilities to camp. Riders will have a chance to win a 2011 Arctic Cat snow machine for every $150.00 raised.

Mayor James Wilson wanted to recognize the volunteers who groom the ski trails at Deer Park for everyone to use. Merlon Ottmann, Bill Aitken and Ken Gedak volunteer their time and groom trails for the cross country skiers.

Proclamation – Scout-Guide Week – February 20 - 26, 2011

A letter dated January 7, 2011 from Ms. Karen Chopty of the Zion 8th Scouts requesting a proclamation was circulated for the consideration of Council. Mr. Tate Chopty, Mr. Brad Kuzek and Mr. Matthew Linsley, Scout Members were present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

A letter dated February 10, 2011from Linda Turta of the Rotary Club of Yorkton regarding a proclamation was circulated for the consideration of Council.

A report dated February 2, 2011 from the Director of Planning and Engineering regarding the Yorkton West Truck Route Alignment Options was circulated for the consideration of Council.

A report dated January 31, 2011 from the Director of Planning and Engineering regarding the acquisition of Private Property was circulated for the consideration of Council.

City Controller – Tax Enforcement Proceedings

A report dated February 7, 2011 from the Director of Finance regarding Tax Enforcement Proceedings, six month notice was circulated for the consideration of Council.

That authorization be granted under Section 22 of The Tax Enforcement Act to proceed with an application of “Six Month Notice” for title to the properties attached, but that Administration be authorized not to commence proceedings on any properties where a reasonable effort is being made to pay arrears of taxes.
