REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
MAY 16, 2011

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, May 16, 2011 in Council Chambers at City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor James Wilson, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Maloney, Okrainec, Pearen and Wyatt.

Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Darcy McLeod, Don Kunkel and Brant Hryhorczuk. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor James Wilson in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Bob Maloney advised that the Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival will be coming up on May 26 to 29, 2011. It is the 64th Annual. He reminded everyone that the Film Festival has been a big part of our community since 1950. Film Makers from across Canada will be here for the Golden Sheaf Awards. Thanks to all the volunteers and to everyone who will be in attendance.

Councillor Ross Fisher advised of the 14th Annual Brayden Ottenbreit “Close Cuts for Cancer” to be held on May 28th at the Parkland Mall. It is a great event in the community and he encouraged people to participate.

Mayor James Wilson commented on the Football Night in Saskatchewan with our own Jordan Matechuk from the Hamilton Tiger Cats in attendance, and Wes Cates from the Saskatchewan Roughriders as the guest speaker. Because of this event, hundreds of children are able to play football. He acknowledged the work of the volunteers, coaches and parents. It was a great evening.

Director of Community Development, Parks and Recreation- Deer Park 9-Hole Season Pass

A report dated May 6, 2011 from the Director of Community Development, Parks and Recreation regarding a 9-Hole Season Pass at Deer Park Golf Course was circulated for the consideration of Council.

Director of Community Development, Parks and Recreation- Yorkton Minor Hockey Ice Request

A report dated May 8, 2011 from the Director of Community Development, Parks and Recreation regarding an ice request from the Yorkton Minor Hockey was circulated for the consideration of Council.

The Chair was passed to Deputy Mayor Arnelien at 5:41 p.m. and it reverted back at 5:42 p.m.

Direction was given to Administration to proceed with the process of obtaining the financial information with respect to the cost and installation of a dehumidifier system that will best meet the needs of the Kinsmen Arena to make it a year round facility.
