FEBRUARY 27, 2012

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, February 27, 2012 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor James Wilson, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Maloney, Pearen and Wyatt.

Absent: Councillor Richard Okrainec.

Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Gord Shaw, Darcy McLeod, Michael Buchholzer, Roy Lanaway, Josh Mickleborough, Brant Hryhorczuk and Chris Wentzell. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor James Wilson in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Mayor James Wilson advised that this Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Yorkton Regional High School, AVIVA will be presenting the cheque in the amount of $150,000.00 to the City of Yorkton. There will be speakers from AVIVA, a demonstration from the YRHS Cheer Leaders, and Aviva, the Dairy Queen and Farrell Agencies will be serving hamburgers.

A presentation dated February 2012 from the Yorkton Business Improvement District (YBID) was circulated for the consideration of Council.
Mr. Ken Chyz, Chair of YBID was present in Council Chambers to speak to their presentation. Other members of YBID were also in present in Council Chambers.

There were no petitioners present in Council Chambers to speak for or against proposed Bylaw No. 6/2012, a Bylaw to amend the City’s Municipal Development Plan Bylaw No. 15/2003 for the re-designation of 495 Broadway Street West from Parks and Recreation to Commercial (PR to C).

Public Notice – Proposed Bylaw No. 7/2012 – Rezone 495 Broadway Street West (PR-1 to C-2)

A report dated February 9, 2012 from the Director of Environmental Services regarding partnering with the University of Regina, Environmental Systems Engineering for a Recycling Assessment Report was circulated for the consideration of Council.

Director of Finance – Yorkville Public Utility Board Agreement

A report dated February 16, 2012 from the Director of Finance regarding the Yorkville Public Utility Board Agreement was circulated for the consideration of Council.
