MARCH 26, 2012

Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Monday, March 26, 2012 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor James Wilson, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Maloney, and Pearen.

Absent: Councillors Richard Okrainec and Chris Wyatt.

Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Gord Shaw, Darcy McLeod, Michael Eger, Jeff Fawcett, Garvin Todosichuk, Kim Durdin, Lisa Washington, Roy Lanaway, Josh Mickleborough, Brant Hryhorczuk, Chris Wentzell, and Maureen Currie. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.

A quorum being present Mayor James Wilson in the Chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Mayor James Wilson advised that this was Gloria Signarowski’s last Council Meeting as she is retiring at the end of this month. She was thanked for her years of service to the City of Yorkton.

Presentation – Yorkton Wheelchair Accessible Playground Committee – Grant Application Support

A letter dated March 19, 2012 from the Yorkton Wheelchair Accessible Playground Committee regarding assistance with the replacement of playground equipment in Weinmaster Park was circulated for the consideration of Council. Ms. Susan Quiring and Mr. Justin Kotko were present in Council Chambers to speak to their request and provided a power point presentation.

Proclamation – Paper Bag Players – Theatre Week – April 8 to 15, 2012

A letter received March 7, 2012 from the Paper Bag Players regarding a proclamation was circulated for the consideration of Council.
Ms. Tammi Hall and Ms. Teresa Weber were present in Council Chambers to speak to their request.

Public Notice – Proposed Bylaw No. 9/2012 – 152 Myrtle Avenue (C-1 to CMI-1)

There was one person present Mr. Pat Hunt, to speak against proposed Bylaw No. 9/2012, a Bylaw to amend Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to rezone the lands known as 152 Myrtle Avenue from C-1 City Centre Commercial to CMI-1 Commercial-Industrial Transitional.

Public Notice – Proposed Bylaw No. 11/2012 – Contractor Facilities being added as a Discretionary Use in the C-1 Zone

There were no petitioners present in Council Chambers to speak for or against public notice for proposed Bylaw No. 11/2012, a Bylaw to amend Zoning Bylaw No.15/2003 to add a Contractor’s Facilities as a discretionary use in the C-1 City Center Commercial Zoning District.

Public Notice – Proposed Discretionary Use DU01-12 – 3-12 Fifth Avenue – Contractor Facility

There were no petitioners present in Council Chambers to speak for or against a Proposed Discretionary Use DU01-12 located at 3-12 Fifth Avenue.
