Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, February 25, 2013 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present: Mayor Maloney, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Goulden, Pearen, and Wilson

Manager of Engineering – Speed Zone Change Hwy # 10 East

A report dated February 19, 2013, from the Manager of Engineering – Speed Zone Change Hwy #10 East was circulated for the consideration of Council. Joshua Mickleborough was present in Council Chambers to speak to this report.

The speed zones on Hwy #10 East, as shown on the attachment of this report, be implemented by Engineering Services and Public Works. Specifically that the speed zones are:
A 70 km/h zone starting from approximately 600m west of city limits running to a 60 km/h zone starting at approximately 100m east of Husky road transitioning to a 50 km/h zone at Mayhew Ave. This is then consistent with the limit established for the Broadway Corridor.  Further, implementation of the speed zones will include advertising to provide notice to residents.

Director of Planning and Engineering – West Gladstone Light Industrial Subdivision – SE ¼ Sec. 10-26-4-W2M – Preliminary Engineering

A report dated February 19, 2013, from the Director of Planning and Engineering – West Gladstone Light Industrial Subdivision – SE ¼ Sec. 10-26-4-W2M – Preliminary Engineering was circulated for the consideration of Council. Gord Shaw was present in Council Chambers to speak to this report.

Engineering Services is authorized to proceed with preliminary engineering on the SE ¼ Sec. 10-26-4-W2M for the development of a light-industrial subdivision.
Furthermore, Engineering Services is authorized to enter into contracts related to the work necessary to complete the preliminary engineering up to a total of $200,000.00 exclusive of GST.

MDH Engineered Solutions is awarded the contract to complete geotechnical work on the light-industrial subdivision land for the amount of $106,000.00 (exclusive of GST).

Director of Planning and Engineering – Road Works Tender Results – CJ Houston, York Colony Phase I & Roundhouse Commercial Subdivision

A report dated February 19, 2013, from the Director of Planning and Engineering – Road Works Tender Results for CJ Houston, York Colony Phase I and Roundhouse Commercial Subdivision was circulated for the consideration of Council. Gord Shaw was present in Council Chambers to speak to this report.

Fedorowich Construction is awarded the tender to complete the road works within C.J. Houston, York Colony Phase I and the Roundhouse Commercial Subdivision in the amount of $2,241,200.87 (exclusive of GST).
Furthermore, Engineering Services is authorized to enter into a contract with Fedorowich Construction for the construction of road works within C.J. Houston, York Colony Phase I and the Roundhouse Commercial Subdivision.

Director of Planning and Engineering – Flow Monitoring of the Sanitary Sewer System on the West Side of the City

The price of lots in the Riverside Terrace Subdivision are to be calculated at $115/m2. Any lots with a current hold on them have 30 days to finalize the purchase at the current prices.
