Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, October 21, 2013 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present:  Mayor Maloney, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Goulden, Pearen, Wilson and Wyatt

Staff Members Present: Bonnie Schenher, Brant Hryhorczuk, Chris Wentzell, David Putz, Dean Clark, Gord Shaw, Lonnie Kaal, and Michael Buchholzer

A quorum being present Mayor Maloney in the chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Pearen acknowledged the 10 million dollars given to the Parkland Regional College from the Saskatchewan Government for the new Trades and Technology Centre to be built in Yorkton.  Premier Brad Wall and Minister Rob Norris were on hand to present the cheque.  The ground breaking is scheduled for January 2014 with classes to begin June 2015.

Councillor Arnelien attended the Grand Opening of Terry Ortynsky’s Royal Ford Tuesday October 15.  Congratulations to Terry Ortynsky and his staff on an excellent grand opening and for making such a large financial commitment within the City of Yorkton.

Councillor Fisher acknowledged the annual Health Foundation Gala Event held on Saturday October 18.  Councillor Fisher thanked everyone participating in it.  It was a sold out event and there were a large number of sponsors.  There was tremendous support through the business community for the silent auction.  St. Mary’s did a wonderful job; he thanked everyone for their participation and support.

There were no petitioners present in Council Chambers to speak for or against Proposed Bylaw No. 22/2013, an amendment to Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003, which changes the zoning of 119 to 149 Broadway Street West, legally described as Lots A, B and C, Block 34, Plan 60YO6600 and Lots 34 to 37, Block 34, Plan 99Y04947, from (C-2) Arterial Commercial District to (C-1) City Centre Commercial.

There were no petitioners present in Council Chambers to speak for or against, and one letter received with concerns regarding Proposed Bylaw No. 24/2013, an amendment to the Municipal Development Plan Bylaw No. 15/2003, which changes the designation of property legally described as Surface Parcel #149985714, Parcel C, Plan No. 101440077 from (R) Residential to (C) Commercial.
