November 18, 2013


   

 

Minutes of a Regular Council Meeting held on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.

Present:  Mayor Maloney, Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Goulden, Pearen, Wilson and Wyatt

Staff Members Present: Brant Hryhorczuk, David Putz, Gord Shaw, Josh Mickleborough, Kim Durdin, Lonnie Kaal, Michael Buchholzer, and Roy Lanaway

Recording:  Teresa Miller

A quorum being present Mayor Maloney in the chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

That the Regular Council Agenda and Committee of the Whole Agenda be approved as presented.
Carried.***

PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Mayor Maloney acknowledged that the Logan Green Water Management System won the Saskatchewan Municipal Award.  The award will be presented at the annual SUMA Convention in February in Regina.  Congratulations to the Environmental Department and we will have more details in February.

Dean Clark entered council chambers at 5:01 p.m.

HEARING OF PETITIONS, PUBLIC NOTICES AND PRESENTATIONS

Proclamation – St. Mary’s School – “Anti Bullying Week” – November 18 – 22, 2013

A letter received November 13, 2013 from St. Mary’s School was circulated for the consideration of Council.  Dominique Holstein, SCC Chairperson at St. Mary’s School and her son, Ethan, were present in Council Chambers to speak to this request.

That Council authorizes Mayor Bob Maloney to proclaim the week of November 18th – 22nd, 2013 as “Anti Bullying Week” in the City of Yorkton, and that the flag be raised in the City Hall Park on November 19th at 10:30 a.m.

Proclamation – Shelwin House –“Violence Awareness Week” – December 1 – 7, 2013

A letter received November 13, 2013 from Shelwin House was circulated for the consideration of Council.  LaVern Dumka, Shelwin House Director and Tanya Parsons, Shelwin House Outreach Worker were present in Council Chambers to speak to this request.

That Council authorizes Mayor Bob Maloney to proclaim the week of December 1st – 7th, 2013 as “Violence Awareness Week” in the City of Yorkton.

Presentation – University of Regina Final Report on the Carbon Footprint Derived from Recycling

Council heard a presentation from Stephen Rosowsky, Chair of Yorkton Environmental Committee on behalf of the University of Regina regarding their final report on the Carbon Footprint Derived from Recycling.

Mayor Maloney passed the chair to Deputy Mayor Fisher at 5:13 p.m.
