PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Wyatt acknowledged the Yorkton Terriers who are now in Vernon, BC, playing in the RBC Cup.  He wished them good luck and asked that people send their support any way they can.

Councillor Fisher acknowledged the “Learn to Run” clinics that are being offered in the community.  He thanked the volunteers for all their work in putting the clinics on.  Clinics run Tuesday and Thursday at 5:45 pm at the Yorkton Regional High School parking lot.  There are clinics for beginners and for advanced runners.

Councillor Goulden, Pearen & Arnelien participated in an announcement at the Yorkton Regional Airport.  Councillor Goulden recognized and acknowledged the Province of Saskatchewan for participating in some work that needs to be done at the airport.  The city will be receiving $36,000.00 from the Province, which the city will be matching.  Funding will be used for fencing, drainage and runway repairs.  Thank you very much to our MLA Greg Ottenbreit and the Province of Saskatchewan.

Councillor Pearen acknowledged the official sod turning for the Trades and Technology Center of the Parkland College that took place on the land that the city donated.  This is a 16.5 million dollar project with 5 million dollars being raised locally.  Hopes are to have the building completed by June 2015, with classes beginning in September 2015.  This is a landmark occasion for the city of Yorkton and Parkland College.
