PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Wyatt acknowledged that Yorkton and Melville co-hosted the 35+ Provincial Men’s “Twiliter” Baseball Tournament. Twenty-seven teams came to the area. The WMBL Yorkton Cardinals and the Melville Millionaires were there to help run the tournament along with the volunteers headed by Jeff Bouvier in Melville, and Karen and Murray Marshall and Darryl Struble in Yorkton. The tournament was completed in between inclement weather! The ‘C’ side winner was from Dinsmore, the ‘B’ side winner was from Wawota and Yorkton and Birsay Brewers tied in the ‘A’ Final. It was an exciting weekend. Of the three Yorkton Teams in the tournament, one finished in the ‘C’ side semi-finals, and one was defeated in the ‘A’ side semi-finals by the third Yorkton team. There was great representation by the men in Yorkton. The event is a great addition to our summer events in Yorkton and Melville, the many participants had good things to say about both cities, including the facilities used to host the tournaments. Councillor Wyatt extended thanks to the WMBL Yorkton Cardinals and Melville Millionaires for the hard work they did for the event.

Mayor Maloney extended congratulations to Councillor Wyatt for organizing the tournament as it’s certainly good for the City of Yorkton.

Councillor Goulden recognized the Yorkton Exhibition’s staff and volunteers for a fantastic success on the Summer Fair 2016. Councillor Goulden spent a fair bit of time working at the Fair this year in a few different capacities, including serving perogies, which they could not keep up with serving! Many people from the area came to enjoy the entertainment and the food. Councillor Goulden expressed thanks again to the staff and volunteers of the Yorkton Exhibition for another fabulous year!
