PUBLIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Councillor Chyz acknowledged that Deer Park Golf Course in Yorkton hosted the Saskatchewan Amateur Men’s Golf Championships. The event was scheduled for July 17 to July 20, 2017. Councillor Chyz gave kudos to Don Kunkel and Dick DeRyk for taking it upon themselves to co-chair the event, and the many people who volunteered to help. Councillor Chyz stated that if you’d like to see some of the province’s best golfers to head out to Deer Park to watch!

Councillor Goulden gave accolades to the organizing groups for the Canada Day celebrations held on July 1, 2017: Tourism Yorkton, the Western Development Museum (WDM), and the City of Yorkton Community Development, Parks and Recreation Department. It was a wonderful way for families to come out and celebrate Canada Day, and there were many activities happening at the WDM Grounds. Councillor Goulden mentioned that one of the very special and touching things that happens in the opening ceremonies with our dignitaries, is the members of the Royal Canadian Legion who attend year after year, marching in with our flag. She stated it was the largest crowd we’ve had for Canada Day and it was all topped off with fireworks into the evening. Councillor Goulden thanked all the organizing groups for a great event.

Councillor Goulden acknowledged and thanked the Yorkton Exhibition Association for putting on a wonderful summer fair. Whether you were into the food, or entertainment, the agricultural events, or the parade – it was a great and made for a busy week in our city. She gave accolades to the Yorkton Exhibition Association for working hard to put on a great summer fair!

Councillor Haider acknowledged the efforts of the Rediscover Downtown group for putting on the ‘Bash on Betts’ event on July 15, 2017. It was another wonderful way for the citizens of our community to gather. He commended them on their efforts!
