Brian Pohorelic

As a loyal citizen of Yorkton for 47 years, Brian Pohorelic has deep roots in the community. This is the city where he attended school, started his career and raised his three children.

Brian’s career started in the service industry where he became the manager of the Short-Stop Luncheonette. He then returned to school, graduating from the University of Regina, Faculty of Social Work Program.      

Brian began working for the Saskatchewan Provincial Government in 1990 and he is presently employed as a Career and Employment Consultant. In his role, Brian manages the Self Employment Program. Brian also works with Community Based Organizations, partnering with employers and future employees to establish successful businesses and develop meaningful employment.  

Brian’s varied career background is matched by his extensive community involvement where he has proven to be a leader. Brian is currently serving as the President of the Yorkton and District United Way; is the chairman of the Yorkton Problem Gambling Committee and a member of the Yorkton District Labour Council.

As city councillor Brian pledges to:

  • Make the safety and wellbeing of children and families a priority.
  • Enhance economic growth by attracting industries and businesses to invest in Yorkton which will create quality jobs and entice skilled workers to consider Yorkton as their residence.
  • Ensure that city resources are sufficiently allocated to enhance city infrastructure.
  • Support advancement in educational opportunities to meet the needs of the evolving Labour force.
  • Create accessible and affordable housing for students and new families relocating to Yorkton.
  • Be well informed of the needs of the Yorkton Citizens to help make good decisions on their behalf.
