Candidate Profiles

Doreen Rathgeber

I am a retired teacher and have taught for 35 years. I taught 21 years for the Catholic School Division in Yorkton and have lived in Yorkton and at York Lake for a total of 25 years. Roger and I have been married for 14 years.

I have a B Ed from U of S and one year of graduate classes in administration from the University of San Diego. I’m a graduate of the Lay Formation Program, Eparchy of Saskatoon.

I taught in three other Catholic School Divisions in Saskatchewan: Estevan, Saskatoon, and North Battleford.

It was privilege to serve as a founding member of two committees with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation: The Stirling McDowell Foundation and the Teacher Ambassador Program. I was the International Reading Coordinator for Saskatchewan for six years.  Locally, I have held various positions within the Teachers’ Associations of Yorkton.

As a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church I had the honor to serve as President of the Parish Council. I’m Chair of the Outreach Program, a member of the Finance Committee and a member of the UCWLC.

I’m also a member of Food Secure Yorkton. I’ve worked with the fundraising committee for Habitat for Humanity, Yorkton.

Catholic education has been my passion all my life. My children attended Catholic Schools within the province and my grandchildren attend Catholic Schools here in Yorkton and Calgary.

With my experience as a teacher and sitting on a variety of Boards and Committees I’ve learned to be a team player.  Christ the Teacher taught us to serve one another.   I’m looking forward to serve you as a board member of Christ the Teacher Catholic School Division this election.

It will be both a privilege and honor to have your vote in my favour on October 28!
