WHEN DO I GET MY FIRST PERFORMANCE EVALUATION?
Performance evaluations are conducted before the end of your probationary period and on an annual basis thereafter based on your start date. As with most organizations, you will receive ongoing feedback and evaluation.
WHO IS CONSIDERED A UNIONIZED EMPLOYEE?
Fire fighters are unionized and are represented by I.A.F.F.
Non-clerical employees working in public works, waterworks, parks, and Arena Labourers and Custodians at the Gallagher Centre are unionized employees and are represented by C.U.P.E. Local 342.
WHAT ARE THE STANDARD HOURS OF WORK? (Does not include unionized employees)
Standard work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. The majority of staff work 70 hours bi-weekly, although there are some staff who work 80 hours bi-weekly.
WHAT IS MY VACATION ENTITLEMENT?
Vacation accrues at 1.25 days per month for permanent employees. Annual entitlement is 15 days for employees with less than ten years of service.
DO WE HAVE CASUAL FRIDAYS?
On Fridays City Hall employees may choose to dress less formally as part of “Dress Down for Charity”. A loonie is collected from each employee and is directed towards various charities.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
There is limited parking behind City Hall; however parking is also available at the Fire Hall and behind the Godfrey Dean Centre. Contact the Director of Finance to make arrangements regarding parking. Parking at all other facilities will be arranged by your supervisor.
WHERE CAN I FIND EMPLOYEE INFORMATION ON POLICIES SUCH AS THE PAY GRID?
All policies in the City of Yorkton Policy Manual, as well as Job Fact Sheets and the Pay Grid are located on the city’s W: drive and are accessible to all staff.
IS SMOKING PERMITTED?
All city-owned buildings, facilities and vehicles are designated as non-smoking areas. Employees are permitted to smoke outdoors in designated areas; please ensure cigarette butts are discarded properly in an ashtray.
