100 Day Torch Relay Kickoff Celebration

Thursday October 1, 2009 marked the “100 Day Kickoff” to the arrival of the Olympic Flame in Yorkton.    Yorkton schools participated in a mini-torch relay which ended at the Gallagher Centre where local hero Joan McCusker, world champion curler, Olympic Gold Medalist and CBC Commentator, spoke to over 1,000 school children.   

Fiona Smith-Bell, Olympic Silver Medalist, two-time World Champion in Women’s Ice Hockey and current RBC Olympian from Edam, Saskatchewan spoke to students in Langenburg as well as the Yorkton Regional and Sacred Heart High Schools in Yorkton.
