Happy Holidays

I want to thank each of you for your input into our community over the past year. Christmas is that time of year when we try to take time out to be with family and friends and to give to those in need. Wouldn’t it be nice to have that feeling year round?

Together we can make our City and our world a better place, and it starts right here at home.

Commissions Of Council 2003

The City of Yorkton is inviting applications from people interested in serving on the various Commissions of Council for the year 2003. Appointments will be made early in January to the following:

Development Appeals Board
Economic Development Commission
Leisure Services Commission (includes Municipal Heritage Advisory, Arts Sub-Commission, and Deer Park Advisory) Municipal Planning Commission (includes Public Transit and Airport Services)
Yorkton Local Library Board and Parkland Regional Library Board
Yorkton Housing Corporation
Protective Services Commission

Please provide a brief letter of application by December 20th, 2002 to the undersigned at Box 400, Yorkton, Sask. S3N 2W3. The application should include a brief description of experience, qualifications and reasons for applying. If you require any information, please call 786-1701.

City Hall Closure

Please be advised that City Hall will be CLOSED on Friday, December 27th.  City Hall will be open for business as usual on Monday, December 30th.

The first council meeting of 2003 with be held  on January 13th at 7:00p.m.

  • Cash fare $1.50
  • Individual tickets may be purchased & $1.25 each, or a book of 20 tickets for $25
 
Students (under 16)
  • $20.00/monthly pass
  • Cash fare $1.00
  • Individual tickets may be purchased & $0.75 each, or a book of 20 tickets for $15
 
Children under 5

2002 Family Fun Festival

Hosted by: City of Yorkton Leisure Services Parkland Agriplex
Date: Saturday, December 28, 2002 from 2:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Other Events and Details: Free pop and popcorn will be handed out at the family dance, as well as free coffee for adults The event will feature something for everyone and is open to all ages and families Door prizes for the Family Dance sponsored by local businesses
Cost: The swimming, sleigh rides, face painting, and public skating are
free of charge

There will be a silver collection at the door of the family dance.

Aquatic Centre News

Holidays are a time to spend with friends and loved ones, relaxing and enjoying the company. The Aquatic Centre has the perfect solution! Come to any Public swim time and enjoy splashing around in the pool, or relaxing in our whirlpool or sauna. There are extra leisure swimming times scheduled for the Christmas break.

In addition to the regular swim times, there is public swimming on December 23, from 2-4pm, December 27, from 1-3pm, and December 30 from 2-4pm.
