Yorkton in Bloom 2003 

  
For the past seven years the Yorkton In Bloom Committee has promoted the Local Grounds Competition. This is an exciting program that focuses on beautification of the city. This initiative was designed to involve the citizens of Yorkton in the challenge of improving the visual appeal of our city, and to compete for local awards.

Categories for the 2003 Local Grounds Competition are as follows 
Best Home Grounds (Front Yard) 
Best Home Grounds (Back Yard) 
Best Mobile Home Grounds 
Best Vegetable Garden 
Best Apartment Garden 
Best Senior Housing Unit 
Best Industrial Grounds 
Best Institutional Grounds 
Best Commercial Grounds Most Improved Commercial/Industrial/Institutional Grounds Best Residential Street, Avenue, Crescent, Bay, etc.

The Committee is sponsoring a Golden Bloom Award. Individuals 75 years and older may enter the following categorie
Best Home Grounds (Front Yard) 
Best Home Grounds (Back Yard) 
Best Mobile Home Grounds 
Best Vegetable Garden 
Best Apartment Garden Best Senior Housing Unit

Deadline for entries is Friday July 25, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. Judging will take place the week of July 28 - 31, 2003 To register contact Leisure Services at 786-1750

Aquatic Centre News

 
The Lifesaving Society and the Parkland Agriplex Aquatic Center want you to be water safe this summer. Each year there are numerous fatalities due to drowning in Saskatchewan. The Lifesaving Society is working to reduce the number of drownings in Saskatchewan and across the nation. Drowning Prevention Week incorporates fun activities with lifesaving knowledge, working towards making everyone safe around the water. In honor of Drowning Prevention Week, the Parkland Agriplex Aquatic Center will be highlighting different themes at public swimming throughout the week:

Tuesday, July 22, 2-4 pm Skills Challenge 
Wednesday, July 23, 2-4 pm Boat Safety 
Thursday, July 24, 2-4 pm You and your Lifeguard!

Fire Fighters

   
CITY OF YORKTON - Fire Department 
Applications are invited for the position of 
TEMPORARY PROBATIONARY FIRE FIGHTERS

Reporting to the Fire Chief and Deputies the Temporary Fire Fighters shall be used to augment Full-Time Fire Fighting Staff on an as needed basis for vacation, sick leave, disability leave, training leave or any other approved absences.

Interested applicants may submit a detailed resume complete with three references no later than 12:00 hrs. (noon) July 30, 2003.
