Parks Department News

Weed Control
Fall is one of the best times of the year for weed control, therefore the Parks Division will be commencing it's fall weed control program. Sports fields and boulevards will be sprayed with Par III and Round-Up Transorb. All areas treated will be posted with yellow caution signs.

Tree Pruning
Back lane trees are becoming more and more of an issue and residents must look after the trees and shrubs that have encroached on the back lane. Access of right of way must be provided to allow for back lane refuse removal and residential use. Clean up notices may be issued to residents whose trees/shrubs have encroached on the back lane.

Free Fishing at Jaycee Beach
Residents are encouraged to throw a line in the water at Jaycee Beach and see if they can catch a trout. Trout should weigh a couple of pounds by now. Fishing is open to the public at no cost and a license is not required, so fish to your hearts content! All we ask is that you call 786-1754 to let us know how many you have caught.

Water Discolouration

Due to numerous water projects and street repairs presently being undertaken by the City, residents may notice some water discoloration at various times and locations. The City of Yorkton regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
