Waterworks Expansion Survey 

 
The City of Yorkton is planning significant upgrade and expansion work to the Waterworks System. As part of the planning process, the City wishes to consult the residents of Yorkton to receive your input on system design objectives. Within the next couple of weeks a survey will be delivered to your mailbox, please take a few moments to complete and return it in the envelope provided. The information we receive will be reviewed by our design team and used in our planning process.

Public Notice
Landfill Fees

   
The Planning and Engineering Department wishes to advise the public of the change in fee structure at the City of Yorkton Sanitary Landfill, effective April 4, 2004. Please be advised of the fees established for acceptance of Recyclable Material (i.e. paper, cardboard) and Construction Demolition Waste (within City Limits only).

As per Bylaw #6/2004, the Sanitary Landfill Fees are outlined below:

Yorkton Planning District
Development Plans and Zoning Bylaws

Pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983, the Council of the City of Yorkton, the Council of the R.M. of Orkney No. 244 and the Council of the R.M. of Wallace No. 243 hereby give Public Notice of their intention to respectively adopt the following separate related Bylaws:

City of Yorkton Bylaw No. 7/2004 to amend the Yorkton District Development Plan No. 13/94 
R.M. of Wallace Bylaw No. Z1/03 to amend the Yorkton District Development Plan No. Z1/94 
R.M. of Wallace Bylaw No. Z2/03 to amend the Yorkton District Zoning Bylaw No. Z2/94
R.M. of Orkney Bylaw No. Z3/03 to amend the Yorkton District Development Plan No. Z1/94 
R.M. of Orkney Bylaw No. Z4/03 to amend the Yorkton District Zoning Bylaw No. Z2/94

Development Plan Amendments

Amendments would allow the R.M. Councils of Orkney and Wallace, at their discretion to permit one (1) additional residential subdivision per quarter on the quarter sections where a residence already exists for the following described quarter sections in the R.M. of Orkney NE 8-25-4-2, SW 9-25-4-2, SW 26-25-4-2, SW 8-26-4-2, SW 24-26-4-2, and the following described quarter sections in the R.M. of Wallace SW 20-25-3-2, SW 30-25-3-2, NE 32-25-3-2. Presently Section 6.4 of the Development Plan does not permit Council to allow more than one single parcel country residential subdivision per 64.8 hectares (160 acres).

Zoning Bylaw Amendments

Amendments would allow Council, at their discretion, to permit one (1) additional residential subdivision per quarter in the Agricultural District where a residence already exists, and only on the quarter sections listed in Bylaw No. Z2/03 for the R.M. of Wallace No. 243 and Bylaw No. Z4/03 for the R.M. of Orkney No. 244. Presently Section 5.3 - Discretionary Uses and Section 5.4 - Site Standards of the Zoning Bylaw Z2/94 does not permit the Council's of the R.M. of Wallace No. 243 and the R.M. of Orkney No. 244 to allow more than one single parcel country residential subdivision per 64.8 hectares (160 acres).

Bylaw Inspection

Copies of the proposed bylaws are available for inspection by any person, at the R.M. Office in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Copies of any of the proposed bylaws may be purchased at the R.M. Office at a cost of $1.00 each.

Written Submissions

Any person may make a written submission to the Council of the City of Yorkton, the R.M. of Orkney No. 244 or the R.M. of Wallace No. 243 regarding the respective proposed bylaw(s).

Public Hearing

Representations respecting the bylaws will be considered by the respective Councils at the following dates and times:

R.M. of Wallace No. 243, Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. 
Both R.M. hearings will be held at the R.M. Office at 26-5th Avenue North, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

City of Yorkton 
The City of Yorkton hearing will be held at the City Hall Council Chambers at 37-3rd Avenue North, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on Monday, April 5, 2004 at 7:00 p.m..

The respective Council will hear any person, group or representative wishing to make representation.

Recovery of Unused Prearranged Burial Lots

 
Leisure Services is in the process of recovering unused prearranged lots in the City of Yorkton Cemetery on King Street, which were purchased prior to 1950.    If you are listed as the purchaser or next of kin, please contact our office prior to April 8, 2004, to advise us if you are still intending on keeping this lot.   If we do not hear from you or your representative by this date, we will proceed with an application to the provincial registrar for a declaration that interment rights have been abandoned.

In accordance with section 52 of The Cemeteries Act 1999 , the City of Yorkton may apply to the provincial registrar for a declaration that the interment rights in a lot have been abandoned. The registrar may declare the interment rights to be abandoned if the registrar is satisfied that:

•  The lot has not been used for interment purposes

•  The City has not heard from the buyer or the buyers personal representative, for 20 years

•  Reasonable efforts have been made to locate the buyer or the buyers personal representative have failed.
