Proposed Bylaw No. 8/2004


The Council of the City of Yorkton gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 8/2003 to authorize the closing of the following street:

FIRSTLY; "All that portion of the lane in Block 7 - Reg'd Plan No. 7023 lying northwesterly of a line joining the most southeasterly corner of Block B - Reg'd Plan No.AO339 with the most northeasterly corner of Block C - Reg'd Plan AO339."

SECONDLY; "All that portion of the street in Block B and C - Reg'd Plan No. AO339."

More specifically shown by the hatched area on the map to the right.

The proposed Bylaw No. 8/2004 may be inspected in the office of the Development Officer, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday, May 14, 2004.

The proposed closure of the lane is to allow for a more desirable commercial site layout and lot configuration.

Any person wishing to make oral or written representations to City Council may do so at the meeting to be held on Monday, May 17, 2004 at 5:00 pm in City Hall Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the public hearing in respect to this Bylaw is in session

Reporting to the Director of Planning and Engineering, the City Engineer administers the efficient operations of all engineering and public works functions, including; planning, construction and maintenance of street and roads, sanitary and storm sewers, water mains, subdivision development, solid waste management, and water and sewage treatment. The City Engineer oversees the implementation of programs and policies, engineering design functions (internal and consulted), current and long range planning, budget processes and staff selection, training and development.

Street Cracksealing

 
Notice from Public Works

City crews will begin cracksealing on various streets in the City. It is expected to take approximately five to six weeks to complete. All motorists are advised to reduce speed and travel with caution in these areas.

Spring Clean-up Week 

  
The week of Monday, May 3 to Saturday, May 8, 2004 has been declared by City Council to be "Spring Clean-Up Week."

Residents of the City of Yorkton are requested to clean their properties and improve the image and appeal of our community. To encourage participation, the City will waive the landfill entrance fee for residential waste (excluding tire disposal) for cars, half ton trucks and utility trailers for this period.

Landfill Hours 

  The spring & summer landfill hours are as follows:
 

MAY 1 TO MAY 31

Monday to Friday:
Saturday: 
8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. 
8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

JUNE 1 TO AUGUST 31

Monday to Saturday:  8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

CLOSED SUNDAYS AND STATUTORY HOLIDAYS

Please enter not later than 15 minutes before closing to allow for material handling.

City Bylaw #16-1981 requires that all loads transported to the landfill be securely fastened so as not to allow debris to fall onto the highway, offences subject to a $100 fine.
