RCMP Clerk-Steno

 
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR AN RCMP CLERK-STENO AT THE YORKTON MUNICIPAL R.C.M.P. DETACHMENT

Reporting directly to the S/Sgt. of the Yorkton Municipal R.C.M.P. Detachment. This is a one- year term position with full-time hours with the possibility of a permanent position. The ideal candidate is required to perform independent clerical work in the police department, which is relatively complex in nature. This employee will be responsible for maintaining police files, typing various reports and other correspondence. This position involves substantial contact with the public. The employee must be familiar with a wide range of policies and procedures to adequately assist the general public.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Adhere to confidentiality regulations and procedures. 
  • Answer and direct incoming inquires either by phone or in person. 
  • Be able to provide or obtain information professionally and accurately. 
  • Ability to operate R.C.M.P. radio system and maintain appropriate log. 
  • Maintain files in several complex systems. 
  • Responsible for typing letters, memorandums and legal documents. 
  • Ability to transcribe tapes from a Dictaphone.
  • Maintain administrative and policy files. 
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.

Qualifications 

  • Willingness to undergo and successfully pass an enhanced reliability security clearance. 
  • Successful completion from a recognized secretarial or educational facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Good public relations and interpersonal skills to deal with the general public complaints and inquiries.
  • Significant experience in performing general clerical duties, including word processing systems. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's license.

CAUTION!
Queen Street Construction

 
Construction is in progress for the installation of a pipeline along Queen Street from Highway # 10 South to Gladstone Avenue South. This pipeline is required for our new Water Treatment Plant Expansion. Please take extra caution when traveling in this area and obey all flagmen. Estimated time of completion is mid- November.

Recovery of Unused 
Prearranged Burial Lots

 
Leisure Services is in the process of recovering unused prearranged lots in the City of Yorkton Cemetery on King Street, which were purchased prior to 1950. If you are listed as the purchaser or next of kin, please contact our office prior to December 3, 2004, to advise us if you are still intending on keeping this lot. If we do not hear from you or your representative by this date, we will proceed with an application to the provincial registrar for a declaration that interment rights have been abandoned.

In accordance with section 52 of The Cemeteries Act 1999 , the City of Yorkton may apply to the provincial registrar for a declaration that the interment rights in a lot have been abandoned. The registrar may declare the interment rights to be abandoned if the registrar is satisfied that:

•  The lot has not been used for interment purposes

•  The City has not heard from the buyer or the buyers personal representative, for 20 years

•  Reasonable efforts have been made to locate the buyer or the buyers personal representative have failed.

Notice to Dog Owners

 
Dog ownership has many benefits, but with ownership also comes responsibility. The City of Yorkton understands the joys pet ownership can bring, but must also ensure that the rights of all citizens are not infringed upon by irresponsible pet owners.

Please make every effort to observe the following bylaw requirement: 1. Clean up after your pet. If a dog defecates on any public or private property within the City of Yorkton other than the property of its owner, the owner of the animal shall cause the defecation to be removed immediately. Please carry a plastic bag at all times when you take your pet for a walk. Any person owning a dog and occupying a property in the City of Yorkton shall remove any and all dog defecation from the said property on a daily basis and shall dispose of the defecation in a sanitary manner.
