Notice of Intention to Alter the Boundaries 
of The City of Yorkton

 
Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Yorkton intends to alter the boundaries of the City in accordance with The Cities Act
The proposed alteration involves adding to the City of Yorkton the NW of 25-25-4-W2nd and withdrawing from the R.M. of Orkney #244, as shown on the map below.

The reason for the proposed alteration is at the request of the owner to allow for development and to access City water and sewer services. Any person may file a written objection to the proposed alteration at the office of the City Clerk on or before July 21, 2005. If an objection is received, the Council will hold a Public Meeting to hear all persons who wish to make representations relevant to the proposed alteration.

The City of Yorkton offers for sale the following properties located in the municipality of Yorkton:

    Lot Size - 50 x 113.2 sq. ft.
    Land and buildings as is.
     
  2. 54 Tupper Avenue 
    Lot 47, Block B, Plan 42488 and Lot 61, Block B, Plan 101785901 
    Zoning: R5 - Mixed Density Residential 
    Lot Size - 37.5 x 143 sq. ft. 
    Land and buildings as is, house currently not suitable for habitation.

Tenders will be accepted by the Building Department, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North, P. O. Box 400, Yorkton, SK S3N 2W3 and must be received by 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 8, 2005.

Each tender shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Property Tender" and clearly indicate the address of the property. This must be accompanied by a certified cheque to the City of Yorkton for 10% of the amount of the tender, which will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders.

Highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

The successful bidder will have thirty (30) days to provide the balance of cash to complete the purchase.

Inspections of these properties will be held on the following dates:

Invitation to Tender 2005 Concrete curb, Gutter & Sidewalk Program

 
Sealed tenders, clearly marked "2005 Curb, Gutter & Sidewalk Program" will be received at the office of the City Director of Planning and Engineering until 2:00 p.m., C.S.T., on Thursday, June 23, 2005.

Contract Documents and Specifications are available by contacting the undersigned between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. C.S.T. Monday to Friday.

Tenders must be on the forms provided and be accompanied by a Consent of Surety from a bona fide Surety Company AND a Bid Bond OR Certified Cheque in the amount of 10 percent (10%) of the Total Tendered Price, made payable to the City of Yorkton.

Tenders shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for tender closing.

Tenders received after the date and time specified for closing will be marked late and be returned unopened.

The City of Yorkton reserves the right to reject any or all tenders, and lowest tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Employee Family Assistance Program

  
The City of Yorkton currently participates in a comprehensive Employee Family Assistance Program. We are requesting proposals from fully credited, professionally qualified Counsellors with experience in Employee Family Assistance Program counselling for quotations on this program. Cenotaph Proposals

 
The City of Yorkton invites proposals for the restoration of the Cenotaph located at Darlington Street and Second Avenue North.

The scope of the work would include cleaning, re-mortaring, repairs where necessary, and optional work with granite plates.

A more detailed description of the work is available at the Engineering Department at City Hall.

Open to all staff, and any other individuals who may be
interested in lifeguarding and instructing.

Registrations are now being taken in the Aquatic Centre office.

 
Summer Swim Session

July 11th to 22nd 
Monday to Friday for two weeks. 
Classes in Aquatots to Aquaquest 4 are now open for registrations. 
Register through the mail or by visiting the Aquatic Centre office on the second floor of City Hall during office hours.

The CITY OF YORKTON ARCHIVES is seeking photos, letters, and other documents relating to the history of Yorkton property, and the immediate surrounding area. Examples: photos of railway history, arrival of groups of immigrants, the radar base, York Lake, sports groups, Ukrainian dancing, Bobby Burns events, Barber Shop concerts, stage performances, children and youth at play, the rain, hail and wind storm of Monday, August 27, 1978, etc.
