Assessment Roll


Public Notice is hereby given that pursuant to subsection 187(1) of The Cities Act, the assessment roll for the City of Yorkton for the year 2005 has been prepared and is open to inspection in the office of the assessor from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following days: March 21, 2005 to April 19, 2005.

Any person who wishes to appeal against his or her assessment or classification to the Board of Revision is required to file his or her appeal with: The Assessor, City of Yorkton, P.O. Box 400, Yorkton, Saskatchewan, S3N 2W3 by the 19th day of April, 2005.

Public Notice
Proposed Bylaw No. 7/2005


The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 7/2005 to authorize a contract zone on the following property:

Block G, Registered Plan No. 62Y08073, known civically as 77 Broadway Street West shall be rezoned (under the Contract Zoning requirements as outlined in Section 82 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983) from C1 - City Centre Commercial to CZ - Contract Zone for M1 - Light Industrial as shaded-in on the map below.

The rezoning of the property via contract agreement will allow for the operation of a business that provides accommodation, daytime boarding, care, sale, grooming and exercising of small animals. The proposed Bylaw is only applicable to one business section of the existing commercial building.

The proposed bylaw may be inspected in the office of the Junior Planner, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday April 15, 2005. Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday April 18, 2005 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Proposed Bylaw No. 8/2005


The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 8/2005 to authorize a contract zone on the following property:

Lot 37 and the Southwest side of Lot 38, Block 35, Registered Plan No. 63Y00274, known civically as 399 Parkview Road shall be rezoned (under the Contract Zoning requirements as outlined in Section 82 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983) from R2 - Low Density Residential to CZ - Contract Zone for R4 - High Density Residential as shaded - in on the map below.

The rezoning of the property via contract agreement will provide the owner with building replacement to the value of the existing eight-plex dwelling (dwelling rowhouse) in the event of an insurance claim resulting from the destruction of the building.

The proposed bylaw and contract may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday April 15, 2005. Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday April 18, 2005 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

These items may be viewed at the following times in the building directly north of the Ag-Pavillion:

Summer Programmers

 
APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR 
4 - Full Time Summer Culture, Recreation and Sport Programmer Positions

The programmers will be responsible for development of the Summer Programs within the City of Yorkton. You will be responsible for planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating the Summer Program for children and youth 6 -11 years of age.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to those with Recreation/Leisure training and/or related experience; 
  • Program delivery knowledge or experience; 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and own transportation;
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Valid CPR and First Aid preferred; 
  • Knowledge of computers would be an asset.

Ice Time Available
Kinsmen Arena

 
Between April 1st and April 14th there is ice time available for rent at the Kinsmen Arena. An opportunity for rec hockey teams, school groups, private bookings, and other functions to get in your last minute skate before the season is over. Call 786-1777 for more information on booking.

There will be extra public skating times on April 4, 7, 11, and 14.

Exercise in the water at the Comfort Inn -- Drop in fee is $4 per visit. 
9:00 - 10:00 am Monday, Wednesday, Friday 
1:00 - 2:00 pm Tuesday, Thursday 
8:00 - 9:00 pm Monday, Thursday 
No swimming ability is required. Focus is on cardiovascular work out.

City of Yorkton Archive

   
The City of Yorkton Archive is always looking for donations of original photos, documents, family histories, small artifacts, club records, etc. for the permanent collection.

We are also writing a history book for 2005, and could use the following items for possible insertion in the book and for the archival collection: photos of Ukrainian dancers of Yorkton past and present, Scottish dancers, German Club events, Barbershop/ Sweet Adeline groups, Radar Base and events there, etc.
