The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 101 of The Cities Act, 2003 and in accordance with Bylaw No. 8/2003 hereby gives public notice of its intention to sell the following properties for less than market value:

To Sell:   Lot 1 and 2, Block 15, Registered Plan No. 99Y07581 known civically as 289 Peter Pond Road and 290 Hamilton Road to be used for the development of new commercial property.

The sale of this property will be considered by City Council at the Council Meeting of Monday, November 14, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall at 37 Third Avenue North. Borrowing Bylaw


Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Yorkton intends to consider passage of Bylaw No. 28/2005, known as the Borrowing Bylaw, a bylaw to provide for the borrowing of $5,000,000 for the purpose of financing the construction of the multi-purpose family leisure centre, known as the Gallagher Centre, at the Council Meeting of Monday, November 14, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North.

Attention: Dog Owners
Re: 2006 Dog Licenses

 
Vaccinations and Licenses: 

Dogs in the City of Yorkton are required to have up-to-date vaccinations and licenses each year.

Pursuant to Section 3(1) of the City of Yorkton Animal Control Bylaw, it is mandatory for any person who keeps, possesses, harbors or has charge of or control over any dog to obtain a license and place it's tag on the dog's collar. For previous license holders, you must obtain a new license for the upcoming year between October 1st and January 31st. For new dog owners, you must obtain a license as soon as you come into possession of the dog.

Annual license fee rates are follows:
Male - $20.00 Female - $20.00 Spayed or emasculated - $10.00
Pups between the age of 0 and 12 months who have not yet been spayed or emasculated - $10.00

When applying for a license, the applicant must provide a certificate from a Veterinary Surgeon indicating that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies within two (2) years of the date of application for the license.

Notice: 
No owner shall permit a dog to be running at large in the City of Yorkton at any time. A dog shall be considered to be at large if it is off the premise of it's owner unless it is on a leash that is no longer than two (2) meters in length and/or it must be under proper control.

No owner of a dog shall permit a dog to be or become a nuisance by barking or howling to the annoyance or discomfort of any person. This is in effect 24 hours of the day.

All dog feces must be picked up immediately if your dog defecates on public property or on property other than the owner.

Leash Law
All dogs must be kept on a leash and/or under the proper control of their owner in the City of Yorkton. Dogs on any public property unaccompanied by any person, or accompanied but not under the complete control of a competent person, or being on private property without the permission of the owner or occupant of such property are considered to be running at large. The penalty for such an offence is $50.00; in addition, if impounded, the Pound Fee is $30.00 for licensed and unlicensed dogs for the first offence and $60.00 for subsequent offences.

The CITY OF YORKTON ARCHIVES is seeking photos, letters, and other documents relating to the history of Yorkton and the immediate surrounding area. Examples: photos of railway history, arrival of groups of immigrants, the radar base, York Lake, sports groups, Ukrainian dancing, Bobby Burns events, Barber Shop concerts, stage performances, children and youth at play, the rain, hail and wind storm of Monday, August 27, 1978, etc.
