Public Notice
Proposed Bylaw No. 29/2006

 
The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 29/2006 to amend Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 as follows and effecting the property listed in Schedule “A”.

  1. Amending Section 3.5 DEVELOPMENT PERMIT APPLICATIONS: DISCRETIONARY USES subsections 3.5.4 and 3.5.5 

    The purpose of amendments 1 and 2 are to allow notification by personal
    service and to increase public awareness of discretionary uses.

  2. Amending Sections 10.1 LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (R-2) Subsection 10.1.2 Discretionary Uses, 11.1 MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (R-3) Subsection 11.1.2 Discretionary Uses,  13.1 MIXED DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (R-5) Subsection 13.1.2 Discretionary Uses.

    The purpose of Amendments 3, 4 and 5 is to allow the continued use of existing Residential Care Facilities located in the residential districts and to allow the  development of additional facilities if required.

  3. Amending Section19.1 LIGHT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT (MI-1) Subsection 19.1.2 Discretionary Uses.

    The purpose of amendment 6 is to allow the continued use of existing Heavy Industry located in the MI-1 Zone and to allow development of additional Industrial plants if required.

  4. Amending the Zoning Map by changing the Zoning of the property  listed  in Schedule "A"  and shown on the appended map inside the Bold dashed lines from MI-1 Light Industrial to MI-2 Heavy Industrial.

The purpose of Amendment 7 is to allow the continued use of Heavy Industrial Development in the area and to permit future Heavy Industrial development adjacent to Railways and Highway Access.

The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday, January 5th, 2007.  Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on January 8th, 2007 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m.  Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Commissions of Council - 2007

 
The City of Yorkton is inviting applications from people interested in serving on the various Commissions of Council for the year 2007.  Appointments will be made early in January to the following: 

  • Development Appeals Board
  • Economic Development Commission
  • Leisure Services Commission (includes Municipal Heritage Advisory, Arts Sub-Commission, and Deer Park Advisory)
  • Municipal Planning Commission (includes Public Transit and Airport Services)
  • Yorkton Local Library Board and Parkland Regional Library Board
  • Yorkton Housing Corporation
  • Protective Services Commission

Please provide a brief letter of application by December 31st, 2006 to the undersigned at Box 400, Yorkton, Sask. S3N 2W3.  The application should include a brief description of experience, qualifications and reasons for applying.  If you require any information, please call 786-1701.

"Green Sweep" Holiday Schedule

“Green Sweep”
(Curbside Recycling)

Curbside Recycling will be cancelled from December 25 to 29, 2006 and on Monday, January 1, 2007. There will be an extra pick up day for the PINK area, (regular Monday pickup) on Friday, December 22, 2006. The Christmas season means increased volumes of recyclables especially cardboard. Curbside Recycling Systems CAN NOT accommodate large sizes and quantities of cardboard. Please consider making a trip to the Kinsmen Recycling Center or a community blue bin to deposit excessive quantities of recyclables. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation!

Thank you for participating in the “Green Sweep” program and helping to make Yorkton “a place where good things happen”.

Six kilometers of classic cross country ski trails have been groomed at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course by volunteers from the Yorkton Cross Country Ski Club.
