Borrowing Bylaw

 
Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Yorkton intends to consider passage of Bylaw No. 12/2006, known as the Borrowing Bylaw, a bylaw to provide for the borrowing of $5,000,000 for the purpose of financing the construction of the Waterworks System Expansion Upgrade within the City of Yorkton, at the Council Meeting of Monday, April 3, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North.

Two (2) R.C.M.P. Clerk-Stenos
 

 
Applications are Invited for Two (2) R.C.M.P. Clerk-Stenos 
at the Yorkton Municipal R.C.M.P. Detachment. 

Reporting directly to the S/Sgt. of the Yorkton Municipal R.C.M.P. Detachment. These are full-time positions. The ideal candidates are required to perform independent clerical work in the police department, which is relatively complex in nature. These employees will be responsible for maintaining police files, typing various reports and other correspondence. This position involves substantial contact with the public. The employee must be familiar with a wide range of policies and procedures to adequately assist the general public.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to confidentiality regulations and procedures. 
  • Answer and direct incoming inquires either by phone or in person. 
  • Be able to provide or obtain information professionally and accurately. 
  • Ability to operate R.C.M.P. radio system and maintain appropriate log. 
  • Maintain files in several complex computer systems. 
  • Responsible for typing letters, memorandums and legal documents. 
  • Ability to transcribe tapes from a Dictaphone. 
  • Maintain administrative and policy files. 
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Willingness to undergo and successfully pass an enhanced reliability security clearance. 
  • Successful completion from a recognized secretarial or educational facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 
  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills to deal with the general public complaints and inquires. 
  • Proficient use of and have a broad knowledge of computer applications, and the ability to accurately input extensive data. 
  • Significant experience in performing general clerical duties, including word processing systems. 
  • A high level of confidentiality is required in this position. Must be willing to take an Oath of Confidentiality. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's license.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $28,392.00 - $34,382.40 per annum.

Concrete Disposal

  
Please be advised that the City of Yorkton will be implementing new rates for the disposal of concrete material effective April 1, 2006 as per Bylaw #6/2006. The City will accept concrete at the designated concrete disposal site on 4th Avenue North behind the Public Works Department Shop. This site is specifically for concrete disposal from properties located within City limits. This is the only site that the City will allow any disposal of concrete. Please also be advised that a Public Works Supervisor must be on hand to estimate the amount of concrete being disposed. Please contact the Public Works Department prior to any disposal. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The charges are as follows:

Pieces 2' x 2' x 8" thick or smaller - $12/yd3 
Larger than dimension stated above - $23/yd3

Concrete that is too large for handling must be broken down prior to acceptance at the site.

The City of Yorkton will use the revenue collected from the acceptance of concrete to crush and recycle the material.

Any unauthorized dumping of concrete on city owned property without permission will result in a fine.

Details of Tender:
Quotations are invited for the crushing of the City's recycled concrete and asphalt. The work shall include the crushing and stockpiling of the following approximate quantities of reclaimed materials:

PART A - Approximately 5,200 cubic meters of recycled concrete
PART B - Approximately 2,000 cubic meters of recycled asphalt

Contractors should note that each part shall be treated as a separate quotation. All quantities on the Schedule of Prices are approximate and the City reserves the right to adjust quantities at the time of placing order.

Tenders shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for tender closing.

Details of Tender:
The City of Yorkton, Parks & Arena Division is seeking a supplier for a playground structure. The age intention is above 5 years; however, the structure may accommodate play components for younger children. The design will include a creative and unique structure that will provide a positive entertaining play opportunity for the age group. 

Project Information:

  • Budget $ 65,000 includes taxes, freight and installation.
  • The City of Yorkton will supply workers for installation, if needed.
  • Supplier to install detailed design and costs associated to the supply and installation. 
     
  • Include product warranties and liability coverage of structure.
  • Include 3 references of other projects your company has been involved with.
    The structure will be CSA compliant and IPEMA certified.
     
  • The City of Yorkton will supply help with the installation and look after the fall protection for the area.
