from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the polling places listed below.

Polling Area No. 2 - Gloria Hayden Community Centre - 397 Darlington Street East

Public notice is hereby given that provision has been made for an ADVANCE POLL for the election of:

The advance poll is held for the convenience of electors who: 
  • are physically disabled;
  • have been appointed as election officials; or
  • anticipate being unable to vote on election day.

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

Public notice is hereby given that a provision has been made for a MOBILE POLL for the election of:

Mayor:   City of Yorkton 1
Councillor: City of Yorkton 6

to provide for the attendance of election officials at the residence of an elector who, because of physical disability or limited mobility, or who is a resident caretaker of an elector who is unable to attend an established polling place to vote. An elector wishing to utilize the mobile poll must apply in writing on a form prescribed by The Local Government Election Act to the Returning Officer by 4:00 p.m. on October 17th, 2006.

Queen Elizabeth Court: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Yorkton Regional Health Centre: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Yorkton and District Nursing Home:  1:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. 
Independent Manor:  4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR AN 
RCMP CLERK-STENO 
AT THE YORKTON MUNICIPAL R.C.M.P. DETACHMENT

Reporting directly to the S/Sgt. of the Yorkton Municipal R.C.M.P. Detachment. This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate is required to perform independent clerical work in the police department, which is relatively complex in nature. The employee will be responsible for maintaining police files, typing various reports and other correspondence. This position involves substantial contact with the public. The employee must be familiar with a wide range of policies and procedures to adequately assist the general public

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to confidentiality regulations and procedures.
  • Answer and direct incoming inquires either by phone or in person. 
  • Be able to provide or obtain information professionally and accurately. 
  • Ability to operate R.C.M.P. radio system and maintain appropriate log.
  • Maintain files in several complex computer systems. 
  • Responsible for typing letters, memorandums and legal documents. 
  • Ability to transcribe tapes from a Dictaphone. 
  • Maintain administrative and policy files. 
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.
Qualifications:
  • Willingness to undergo and successfully pass an enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Successful completion from a recognized secretarial or educational facility. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong public relations and interpersonal skills to deal with the general public complaints and inquires.
  • Proficient use of and have a broad knowledge of computer applications, and the ability to accurately input extensive data.
  • Significant experience in performing general clerical duties, including word processing systems.
  • A high level of confidentiality is required in this position. Must be willing to take an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's license.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $28,392.00 - $34,382.40 per annum.

Construction/Road Closures

 
Over the next couple of weeks, expect a road closure on Gladstone South at Queen Street. Please avoid this area and take alternate routes. This closure is due to system upgrades.

Notice Temporary Street Lane Closures 

   
Please be advised of the tentatively scheduled street lane closures during the building demolitions at 24 & 32 Broadway Street East and 9 Livingstone Street. Eastbound traffic on Broadway will be reduced to one lane in this area and the parking lane on the north side of Livingstone will be closed in this immediate area.

Tentative start date for these closures is October 23rd and will continue as necessary until work is complete.

Please be aware of the barricaded areas closed as a result of the construction and travel with caution in these areas.

Provincial Disaster
Assistance Program (PDAP) 

   
If you had Uninsured Property Damage due to the Flash Flood that occurred on August 10th, 2006 in the City of Yorkton you may be eligible for assistance under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program.

You may pick up the Claim Form and information package on the main floor of City Hall located at 37 Third Avenue North. These forms are then to be returned to City Hall for submission to the Provincial Government. For further information, please call 786-1735 or 786-1730.
