The City of Yorkton is seeking a talented and self-motivated individual with a passion for computers and technology to join our Information Technology team as the Computer Support Technician. An ideal candidate would be creative, conscientious, and detail-oriented, with excellent spoken and written communication skills, and with excellent research skills. This dynamic candidate would also be competent in a wide range of disciplines including customer service, hardware, software, networking, databases, web site design, and multimedia creation/design/editing. This person would be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality while offering consistent high-quality service to staff and citizens in an ever-evolving environment.

The Computer Support Technician shall report to and complement the Computer/Network Systems Manager in the overall administration, planning, organizing, co-ordination, control and evaluation of the City of Yorkton’s computer operations, programs and network services and all related information services for the City of Yorkton.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintains positive working relationships with Unions and Out-of-Scope employees;
  • Provides advice, guidance and support to the Management Team in all areas including succession planning, employee recognition, performance management, discipline, and conflict resolution; 
  • Works with employee focus groups to review and create positive, progressive HR policies and ensures compliance with labour legislation, policies and collective agreements;
  • Investigates and participates in grievance resolution and arbitration hearings if necessary;
  • Assists with compensation, job evaluations, benefits and internal equity issues;
  • Responsible for research and analysis including compensation surveys and document preparation for collective bargaining;
  • Administers the HRIS database for municipal employees;
  • Responsible for recruitment and retention initiatives and strategies, employee orientation, overseeing the Benefit Program, WCB Claims, Return-to-Work and accommodation programs and working with OHS Committees;
  • Facilitate and coordinate ongoing training and development opportunities for employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a degree with a specialty in HR, an HR diploma or equivalent education and experience with at least 5 years of HR generalist experience;
  • Preference given to those candidates possessing Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation;
  • Excellent Interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • Work in collaboration, strong communication and team building skills;
  • Experience in use of HRIS, job evaluations and Web-based tools.

  • Fixtures require direct wiring (ends are not plugs)
  • Fixtures and lamps in working order at time of removal.
  • Fixtures available September 15, 2007.
  • Each fixture (including lamp) sold as is.
  • Successful proponent is responsible for the cost of delivery or pick up.
  • The proposal shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for proposal closing.

Advertising space on the Zamboni
Located at the Kinsmen Arena in Yorkton

Specifications:

  • The Zamboni is in operation approximately September 1 through April 15 each year.
  • Advertising permitted on two sides of the Zamboni snow tank.
  • Approximate size of each side of the Zamboni snow tank is 6’ wide x 3’ high.
  • The ad must support the goals, objectives, policies, and bylaws of the City of Yorkton and be compatible with, complementary to, and reflect the City’s values and mandate.
  • The successful proponent is responsible for all costs associated with the creation and development of the Zamboni ad.
  • The proposal shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for proposal closing.
  • The City of Yorkton reserves the right to reject any or all proposals.
  • Highest or any proposal not necessarily accepted.
  • Preference will be given to proposals committing to 3 years.

Proposals should include:

  • Name and contact information of firm submitting proposal.
  • Proposed annual fee for Zamboni ad.
  • Proposed number years for agreement.
  • Applicable taxes shall be applied separately.
