Gallagher Centre Maintenance Manager

The City of Yorkton, a progressive community of approximately 15,000 people, located in the beautiful Parkland Region, is recruiting a Maintenance Manager for the Gallagher Centre, our newly renovated multi-purpose facility.  Due to its large trading area, Yorkton has many larger city amenities while providing the quality of life of a smaller community.

Reporting to the General Manager the Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of this multi-purpose facility.  This position will oversee all aspects of the plant operation, maintenance systems, capital projects, budget allocations and capital planning.  The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all maintenance staffing, ensuring that user requirements have been met, while providing customer satisfaction.  In the absence of the Gallagher Centre General Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be designated the acting Gallagher Centre General Manager and shall perform all duties and responsibilities in this capacity.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Journeyman experience or a related trade and supervisory experience;
  • Experience in facility operations, commercial or industrial building maintenance or construction;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experienced may be considered.
  • A high degree of personal initiative, good planning and organizational skills.
  • A team player fostering positive communication with staff, contractors and citizens.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.

Street Closure
Smith Street Between 3rd and 4th Avenue

 
Yorkton City Council has approved the closure of Smith Street, between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue, from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday September 8th, 2007 to accommodate the Bed Races which are being held in conjunction with SunFlower.

The street closure does not affect the intersections of 3rd or 4th Avenues and Smith Street, however caution is recommended when traveling through those intersections.

TRANSPORTATION OF WASTES
No person or persons shall operate any vehicle transporting wastes or other debris of any kind along or over any highway, street, lane, vacant lot, park or public place in the City of Yorkton unless the load is completely enclosed with a securely fastened cover as to prohibit any part of the load on the said vehicle finding its way to the roadway or adjacent premises.

Notice to Dog Owners


Dog ownership has many benefits, but with ownership also comes responsibility.  The City of Yorkton understands the joys pet ownership can bring.  Please ensure that you clean up after your pet.

Please make every effort to observe the following bylaw requirement:

Clean up after your pet:

    • If a dog defecates on any public or private property within the City of Yorkton other than the property of its owner, the owner of the animal shall cause the defecation to be removed immediately.  This includes all city property (ie. sidewalks, parks, as well as your neighbour’s lawn).  Please carry a plastic bag at all times when you take your pet for a walk.
    • Any person owning a dog and occupying a property in the City of Yorkton shall remove any and all dog defecation from the said property on a daily basis and shall dispose of the defecation in a sanitary manner.
