The City of Yorkton is seeking a key player for its management team.  Located on the Yellowhead Highway, Yorkton is a progressive community of approximately 15,000 people serving as a hub to the Parkland region.  Due to its large trading area, Yorkton has many larger city amenities and provides the quality of life of a smaller community.

The City Engineer reports directly to the Manager of Engineering as well as the Director of Planning and Engineering.  The City Engineer provides the expertise required for project management for various new and replacement construction projects for the City which includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Streets and roads,
  • Water mains, sanitary and storm sewer mains,
  • Subdivision design and development,
  • Municipal buildings and facilities

The City Engineer assists with the efficient operations of all engineering functions for other departments of the City.  The City Engineer assists with the implementation of programs and policies, airport, transit and solid waste management, engineering design and construction functions (internal and consulted), current and long-range city planning and development, budget processes and staff selection, training and development.  The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.  Consideration may be given to candidates who have an equivalent combination of municipal experience and education;
  • A high degree of personal initiative, good planning, and organizational skills;
  • Proven management experience with the ability to foster a participative team environment, promoting a productive workplace and excellent customer service;
  • Strong leadership characteristics and sound financial management skills;
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills to effectively deal with all levels of staff, elected officials, government agencies, consultants and the general public.

The Gloria Hayden Community Centre is a leisure facility featuring: a 140m walking/jogging track, two regulation indoor courts capable of supporting racquetball, squash, and wallyball, and a gymnasium with a basketball court, a volleyball court and 3 badminton courts.

We are seeking an energetic individual with good public relations skills to work 15-20 hours per week of casual/part time shifts, including evenings and weekends at this diverse recreational facility. Reporting to the Recreation Attendant II, the successful candidate will work with minimal supervision while performing various duties relating to the general operation of this facility including: supervision of the facility, scheduling, evaluations, cash reporting, equipment set up and take down, general maintenance, and support services to community groups and organizations offering programs at the centre.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and computer experience. Must possess and maintain a Class V Driver’s License and RCMP security clearance.

Downtown Parking
Limited Free Parking:
A person may park a vehicle downtown on any block on any street (except where otherwise posted), once daily occupying only one (1) parking stall, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and once daily, occupying only one (1) parking stall between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for a maximum of 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.

There is also free parking available in the parking lot located at the corner of Betts Ave. and Smith Street (west side).
 

Worry-Free Parking:
You may purchase a worry-free, full-day parking pass in the downtown core at a cost of: 
$10         1 month 
$20         3 months 
$30         6 months 
$50       12 months

Valid at all City of Yorkton permit parking lots which are located on First Ave. North (by Benno’s Fitness and the Bus Depot), corner of First Ave. & Smith St. (west side of Fire Hall); and Myrtle Ave. between Broadway & Smith St.
 

Parking Meter Rates:
1) Downtown Parking: Coin-operated meters are available for parking to a maximum of 15 minutes in certain "high demand" areas.
2) Public Parking lots: Coin-operated meters are offered for your convenience at the following rates: 
$0.10 25 minutes
$0.25 1 hour 
Maximum five-hour limit.
 
Parking Tickets:
For your convenience, there is a slot located in the front entrance of City Hall for the purpose of paying parking tickets, water bills, etc.
