Property For Sale
Riverside Meadows - Multi-Family Lots

The City of Yorkton is offering for sale 17 multi-family lots.  These lots will be released for purchase through a lot draw to be held on August 25, 2008.  Please refer to the map below for lot location, size and price. These lots are located on Good Spirit Crescent continuing north on the existing street.  These lots are zoned R-3 on the west side of the street and R-2 on the east side, which allows for the development of buildings such as, Three or Four Unit Dwellings, Townhouses, Semi-detached, Duplexes, etc.

Lots will be offered for sale – 1 per Individual or Contractor.  If there are more lots available then there are names submitted, those interested will be allowed to resubmit their name for an additional lot.  The name appearing on the request for the lot draw will be the name placed on the Transfer of Title.  Interested parties are to submit their written request to participate in the lot draw by one of three ways:

  1. Filling out the form on the web site or;
  2. Sending an email to or;
  3. Dropping off a written request to the Office of the City Clerk, located on the 2nd Floor at City Hall, 37 Third Avenue North, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

Your submission must include your Name(s), (as it will appear on the Title Transfer) along with your address and daytime phone number.  All submissions must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2008. 

If entering the Lot Draw through the web site or by email, you will receive an automatic response to your submission.  If you drop off your submission you will receive a written receipt.  You will then be contacted by telephone the week of August 18th to confirm your submission and participation in the lot draw.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you have received a phone call by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20th.  If you have not been contacted by telephone at that time, please call 786-1717 to confirm that you have been placed on the lot draw list.

The City of Yorkton is offering for sale 58 single-family residential lots.  These lots will be released for purchase through a lot draw to be held on August 25, 2008.  Please refer to the map below for lot location, size and price. These lots are located directly to the west of the Riverside Terrace sub-division and north of the last phase of lots sold on Tamarack Cove and Riverside Drive.

Sanitary Landfill
Hours of Operation Notice

Please be advised that the Sanitary Landfill will be closed on Saturday, August 2nd through to Monday, August 4th.

Regular hours of operation resume on Tuesday, August 5th (8 am to 6 pm).

DETAILS OF TENDER :

This tender is for the demolition, supply and installation of 400 square meters of sidewalk for 2008, 2009 and 2010 for a total of approximately 1200 square meters over three years.

The successful Contractor will be responsible for all aspects of sidewalk removal and new sidewalk installation including demolition, removal, concrete disposal (to designated City site), base preparation and placing and finishing of new concrete.

Tenders shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for tender closing.

Tenders received after the date and time specified for closing will be marked late and be returned unopened.

Applications Are Invited For The Position Of
Casual Kiosk Attendant
Leisure Services Department – Gallagher Centre

Reporting directly to the Kiosk Supervisor.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide friendly and courteous service and respond to customer inquiries, as well as distribute information.
  • Receive switchboard calls for the City of Yorkton, Yorkton Exhibition Office, Gallagher Centre and Ticketmaster.
  • Keep up to date on events in the City and all facilities to ensure effective service.
  • Handle customer complaints and forward to appropriate departments.
  • Receive bookings for all City facilities and ensure proper information is obtained from customer and that payment is processed.
  • To provide information and ticket sales for Ticketmaster and sell lottery tickets to the public, following legal requirements related to the sale and distribution of Saskatchewan Lottery, along with having to balance and account for all sale transactions.
  • Act as a call desk for emergency situations to ensure patrons have a positive experience.
  • Process admissions, registrations and memberships for the facility.
  • Responsible for Ticketmaster, Sask Lottery and Water Park cash balancing.

Qualifications:

  • One year related cash handling experience in customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of accepted procedures for handling cash, balancing transactions, and completing revenue collection reports.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Possess computer skills.
  • Must possess good interpersonal communications and public relation skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Salary:                        $12.86 per hour

Hours of Work:         Shift work, evening and weekend work is involved

Full Time Administrative Assistant – Tax Enforcement And Collections
Finance Department

The City of Yorkton is a great place to work and if you enjoy a busy and challenging work environment, we encourage you to apply for the Administrative Assistant – Tax Enforcement and Collections position with the Finance Department.  Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Administrative Assistant – Tax Enforcement and Collections performs tax enforcement and collection duties, responsible to manage the City Mobile Home Park as well as cashier and other general office duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide customer service by handling general public concerns, which typically include a wide range of inquiries
  • Handle tax inquiries, including problem accounts and provide information and explanation to ensure matters proceed to a successful conclusion
  • Issue assessment sheets and tax certificates
  • Follow-up on delinquent accounts and collection agency
  • Document files with regard to tax enforcement costs, stage of collections, agreements for payment
  • In accordance with The Tax Enforcement Act implement procedures for tax enforcement as required
  • Supervise collection of all delinquent accounts including utility billing, City Mobile Home Park and general accounts receivable
  • Manage Mobile Home Park with respect to being familiar with The Landlord and Tenant Act and the collection of rent, process lease agreements for new tenants, handling complaints and maintenance issues
  • Monthly Bank Reconciliation
  • Other general office responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Office Education Certificate and/or Local Government Administration Certificate
  • Good public relations skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with the Cities Act and Tax Enforcement Act
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License
  • Possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.

HOURS OF WORK:
Monday through Friday – 35 hour work week.
