Recycling in Yorkton

Rethink/Reduce/Reuse/Recycle

The Solid Waste Management Committee in conjunction with Sarcan and the City of Yorkton held a household hazardous waste day on April 26, 2008 at the Abilities Center. There were a total of 109 vehicles bringing a variety of hazardous waste for disposal. A contest was also held in which elementary students from Yorkton were asked to design and name a mascot using the four R's which are Rethink, Reduce, Recycle and Reuse. The two deserving winners of the contest were Louis Gordon and Dawson Stefanyshyn.  A special thank you goes to Shamma Technology and Sasktel Pioneers who donated two computers which were given as prizes for the mascot contest.
