Waste Reduction Week
October 19th to 25th

City Council has proclaimed the week of October 19th to the 25th as “Waste Reduction Week” in the City of Yorkton.  In doing so, we are joining other cities and communities across Canada in raising awareness and promoting waste reduction. The national theme, “Too Good To Waste”, emphasizes saving our earth and its resources and aims to inform and engage Canadians about wasteful practices and their environmental and social ramifications.

The Yorkton Solid Waste Management Committee consists of active members from the following organizations:

  1. Canadian Federation of University Women
  2. Chamber of Commerce
  3. City of Yorkton
  4. Ottenbreit Sanitation Services
  5. Prairie Harvest Employment Program
  6. Saskatchewan Abilities Council
  7. Yorkton Business Improvement District

The Yorkton Solid Waste Management Committee will be promoting this week by providing tours at the Sanitary Landfill and the Saskatchewan Abilities Recycling Centre.  Interested parties can book their tour of these facilities by contacting the City of Yorkton Environmental Services Department at 786-1774.

An informational brochure will be arriving with your next water bill to endorse and provide practical information on recycling initiatives in our community.

Meanwhile let's work together to make every week Waste Reduction Week!
