Request for Tenders
2009 Arterial Improvements and Reservoir Decommission
Sealed Tenders marked "City of Yorkton, 2009 Arterial Reconstruction and Reservoir Decommission” will be received at Associated Engineering (Sask.) Ltd. at: 1-2225 Northridge Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7L 6X6, no later than 2:00 P.M. Central Standard Time, Wednesday, June 17, 2009.
The major items of work are as follows:
Crescent Avenue Surfacing
- Construct the asphalt pavement surfacing structure from the intersection of York Road to a point approx. 700 metres north of the intersection.
- Surfacing will include preparing the existing subgrade, 310 mm sub-base, 150 mm base and 100 mm of asphalt concrete.
York Road Resurfacing
- Resurface York Road from Novak Road to a point approx. 200 metres west of the intersection of Crescent Avenue (approx. 1000 metres in length)
- Resurfacing will include milling the existing asphalt concrete, 150 mm base and 100 mm of asphalt concrete.
Bradbrooke Drive Reconstruction
- Reconstruct Bradbrooke Drive from the roundabout at Winchester Street to a location approximately 350m west of the roundabout.
- Removal and disposal of existing asphalt, surface structure, curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
- Construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and new surfacing structure 200 mm sub-base, 200 mm base, and 75 mm asphalt concrete.
Broadway Street Reconstruction
- Reconstruct Broadway Street through the intersection of Dracup Avenue up to the intersection of Highway 9 (approx. 150m).
- Removal and disposal of existing asphalt, surface structure, curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
- Construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and new surfacing structure 200 mm sub-base, 200 mm base, and 75 mm asphalt concrete.
Borden Street Reservoir Demolition
- Demolition of the existing underground concrete reservoir at the intersection of Independent Street and Laurier Ave, and haul all concrete to the City disposal site located on Fourth Avenue North.
Tender documents may be obtained by bona fide bidders at Associated Engineering (Sask.) Ltd. on Monday, June 8, 2009. A one hundred dollar ($100) refundable deposit will be required. This deposit will be refunded if the tender documents and plans are returned in good order within ten (10) days of the tender closing date. Tender documents may be examined at the City of Yorkton City Hall.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., an optional pre-tender meeting will be held at the City of Yorkton, City Hall, Meeting Room A, 37 - 3rd Ave. North, Yorkton, SK, S3N 2W3 for the purpose of responding to questions by bidders.
Technical inquiries by bidders are to be directed in writing to Jason Horner, P.Eng. at Associated Engineering, Fax (306) 242-4904.
Tenders must be accompanied by a bid security in the form of a Bid Bond or certified cheque in the amount of 10% of the tendered price, payable to the City of Yorkton and a Consent of Surety to furnish a Performance Bond and Labour and Materials Payment Bond each in the amount of 50% of the tendered price.
The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

The City of Yorkton will be accepting proposals for the removal and clean-up of the existing playground structure, including concrete footings and any borders at Waterloo Park.
The proposed work shall be completed between June 15 and July 2, 2009 and will result in minimal damage to the turf and park area.
The proposal shall include all costs, if any, associated with the removal of the equipment, where the equipment will be relocated to or disposed of and who will be performing the work.
Proposals shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for tender closing.
Proposals received after the date and time specified for closing will be marked late and be returned unopened.

LEISURE SERVICES DEPARTMENT - GALLAGHER CENTRE
Reporting directly to the Kiosk Supervisor.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide friendly and courteous service and respond to customer inquiries, as well as distribute information.
- Receive switchboard calls for the City of Yorkton, Yorkton Exhibition Office, Gallagher Centre and Ticketmaster.
- Keep up to date on events in the City and all facilities to ensure effective service.
- Handle customer complaints and forward to appropriate departments.
- Receive bookings for all City facilities and ensure proper information is obtained from customer and that payment is processed.
- To provide information and ticket sales for Ticketmaster and sell lottery tickets to the public, following legal requirements related to the sale and distribution of Saskatchewan Lottery, along with having to balance and account for all sale transactions.
- Act as a call desk for emergency situations to ensure patrons have a positive experience.
- Process admissions, registrations and memberships for the facility.
- Responsible for Ticketmaster, Sask Lottery and Water Park cash balancing.
Qualifications:
- One year related cash handling experience in customer service environment.
- Knowledge of accepted procedures for handling cash, balancing transactions, and completing revenue collection reports.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Possess computer skills.
- Must possess good interpersonal communications and public relation skills.
- Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Salary: $13.28 per hour

- Ensure lesson plans are completed, results recorded, and submitted.
- Complete all basic janitorial daily tasks as assigned and report any deficiencies.
- Complete incident/accident reports for submission.
- Complete participant report cards.
- Ability to work shift work and weekends as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of grade 12 education or equivalency
- Bronze Cross
- Standard First Aid/CPR-C or Aquatic Emergency Care
- National Lifeguard Service Award
- Lifesaving Instructor
- Minimum of one of the following:
- LSI Trainer
- NLS Instructor
- AEC Instructor
- Standard First Aid/CPR-C Instructor (Red Cross, Lifesaving Society)
- WSI Instructor Trainer
- AWSI Instructor Trainer
- BOAT Instructor
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Pool Operator's Certificate is preferred
