Proposed Bylaw No. 33/2009

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 33/2009, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 for Parcel F, Plan 87Y10417, civically known as 203 York Rd. E., from Highway Commercial C-3 to Light Industrial MI-1 Zoning District.
 
The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday October 16, 2009.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday October 19, 2009 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m. All submissions must be submitted in writing by 12:00 noon Thursday October 15, 2009 to Bonnie Schenher, City Clerk.  Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 34/2009, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 at 259 Circlebrooke Drive from CZ – Contract Zone to IN – Institutional and provides for the Permitted Use of Government Services and Health Services uses.

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 36/2009, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 which changes the zoning for Lot 47, Block 3, Plan 101969466 located at 390 Maple Ave. from R-5 Mixed Density Residential to CZ Contract Zone to reduce the side yard setback from a flanking street from 3.0m to 2.66m (a variance of .34m - 1.1 ft).

The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday October 16, 2009.

Event Coordinator

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE TERM POSITION OF
EVENT COORDINATOR
(Maternity Leave – Jan 2010 – February 2011)

The City of Yorkton is recruiting for a Full Time Event Coordinator at the Gallagher Centre.  This is a term position to cover a maternity leave.   This position will appeal to a person who truly enjoys working with people and achieving success through running successful events and functions for other people, our customers.  The successful applicant will need to be a high energy person with an outgoing personality.  If you enjoy achieving results through your success with others, don’t mind deadlines and can work through the occasional pressure cooker situation then you’ll love working at the Gallagher Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Market/show facilities to customers
  • Prepare and complete contracts and billing for facility bookings
  • Client follow up before, during and after the event/function
  • Coordinate set up for events/functions including seating, sound, food etc.
  • General office and customer service responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Event Management/Hospitality training with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience
  • Excellent computer skills – ability to work with Excel, Class and/or Event Pro software would be an asset
  • Ability to multi-task and work under deadlines
  • Ability to work well with the public and often times more than one person or a group at any given time
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of billing and receipting procedures
  • Must have good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekend work both days and evenings
  • A valid class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license
  • RCMP security clearance
