Holiday Garbage and Recycling schedule for December 26, 2022 to January 2, 2023

This holiday season the City of Yorkton is encouraging residents to practice proper waste disposal. Many items that end up in our landfill during the holiday season can actually be recycled, reducing the amount of unnecessary waste that goes into the landfill each year.

  •  Wrapping Paper: If you can rip it, you can recycle it. No need to remove tape and staples, but it helps if you do.

Let Yorkton Shine Holiday Map and Voting now available

The 2022 Let Yorkton Shine Holiday Map and public voting is now available. Grab some friends or family and go for a drive this holiday season to view the contest entries in person before voting for your favourite decorated home or store front online.

Snow Route Parking Ban in Effect for the Downtown Core starting Thursday, December 15

City crews were out at 2 a.m. this morning, Thursday, December 15, clearing the Urban Connector (Highway 9, Highway 10 E., Highway 16 A., and York Road). These roadways were completed this morning and crews have now moved on to Priority 1 main streets and emergency routes, focusing on Mayhew Ave., Darlington St. and Gladstone Ave.

Outdoor basketball courts have been planned for the City since the approval of the 2021 capital budget. A review of locations was started to ensure a balance of man-made amenities in parks as well as to ensure a balance of services and amenities across the City.
