SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 2, 2009
Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council held on Monday, November 2, 2009 in Council Chambers City Hall commencing at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Past Mayor Chris Wyatt, Mayor-elect James Wilson, Councillors Elect Les Arnelien, Ross Fisher, Richard Okrainec, Bob Maloney, Larry Pearen and Chris Wyatt.
Guests: His Honour Judge Ross Green and Minister Faye Greer.
Staff Members Present: David Putz, Bonnie Schenher, Lonnie Kaal, Darcy McLeod, Dean Clark, Trevor Morrissey, John Whittaker, Michael Buchholzer, Trent Mandzuk, Don Kunkel, Kelly Kaban, S/Sgt. Joe Milburn, Sgt. Sherry Fedorowich, Kim Durdin and Shawna Kriger-Kemp. Recording: Gloria Signarowski.
Past Mayor Chris Wyatt in the Chair called the Meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Maloney – Pearen
That the Agenda for this Special Meeting of Council be approved as presented.
REPORT OF RETURNING OFFICER
Bonnie Schenher, City Clerk and Returning Officer advised there were an estimated 13,395 eligible voters of which a total of 4,183 votes were cast. This represents 31.24% turn out of voters for this election. She thanked all those staff members and the election workers for their assistance during this election. She provided the official results of the 2009 Municipal Election.
INAUGURATION OF COUNCIL
His Honour Judge Ross Green, Judge of the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan, presided over the swearing in ceremony of Mayor James Wilson and Councillors Arnelien, Fisher, Okrainec, Maloney, Pearen and Wyatt. A Declaration of Office by Elected Officials was taken and completed by the Mayor and each Councillor.
Past Mayor Chris Wyatt placed the Chain of Office on Mayor James Wilson.
Minister Faye Greer was present in Council Chambers and delivered the invocation to the Members of Council.
Mayor James Wilson thanked all of Council for putting their names forward and to all of the citizens of Yorkton for their support for this election.
