The City requires a bylaw to assess development levies within the community. The Planning and Development Act, 2007 (the Act) requires a municipality establish these charges based on a study or studies of the costs of municipal servicing and recreational requirements as they relate to the established direction for future land use and development patterns and the phasing of public works.
The Development Levy Bylaw No. 1/2014 dictates the cost of Development Levies based on land use. The Development Levy is intended to reimburse the Municipality for the capital costs associated with the construction, altering, expanding or upgrading of the following:
associated directly or indirectly with the proposed development.
