Notice of Intention to Amend 
Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw 39/2003 which amends Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No 14/2003.

Section 4.18 Non-Ancillary Uses shall be amended:

"The keeping of a commercial vehicle of a maximum weight in excess of 4,500 kilograms on the site, other than for temporary loading or unloading is not ancillary to any residential use."

"Commercial vehicles between 4,500 and 9,000 kilograms are not ancillary to residential use. Such vehicles are only permitted to park on private property in residential areas once per seven days for no more than 48 hours and shall in no circumstance be permitted to idle for more than 15 minutes."

Section 4.5.2 Accessory Uses, as follows, shall be deleted:

"Detached accessory buildings located in residential main building side yards shall conform to all residential principal building regulations."

Section 4.5.9-8 Detached Garages shall be amended:

"Shall be situated not less than 1.0m from the principal building."

"Shall be not less than 1.2m from the principal building."

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on November 17, 2003 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 7:00 p.m. Oral or written submissions may be directed to the Director of Planning and Engineering at City Hall. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the public hearing in respect to these Bylaws is in session.

Building Permits

Please note, that pursuant to City of Yorkton Bylaw No. 28/2002, all persons in the City of Yorkton intending to construct, erect, place, alter, repair, renovate, demolish, relocate, remove, or change occupancy of any building within the City of Yorkton are required to apply to the Building Services Office of the City of Yorkton and pay such fee as is described in Bylaw 28/2002.

Value of Construction Permit Fee
First $100,000.00 $5.00/$1,000.00
Balance Over $100,000.00 $4.00/$1,000.00
Demolition Or Removal Permits $25.00
Minimum Permit Fee $25.00
For Work Commenced Prior to Issuance of Permit  2 x Calculated Permit Fee

NCCP Level One Springboard Diving Clinic
November 7th, 8th and 9th 
Time: Friday 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. 
         Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
         Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
Free of Charge, Manual is $25 
Upon certification, candidate will be able to instruct Springboard Diving.

PADI Basic 
November 14th, 15th, 16th 
Time: Friday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 
         Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 
         Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 
Cost is $225 
Minimum age is 12. Anyone under the age of 12 must get permission of instructor. 
For anyone who would like to become PADI certified. 
Open water dive will take place at a later date.

Discover Scuba
Sunday, November 30th 
Begins at 6:00 p.m. 
For anyone who would like to discover the world of Scuba.

Synchro Instructor Level One
November 21st 
4:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. 
Upon completion, will be able to instruct Synchro.

Lifesaving Instructor 
Must be age 16 or older with a current Bronze Cross (within last two years) 
Fee: $140. This price includes text books and exam fees. 
Friday, December 12th to Sunday, December 14th 
Times: Friday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 
           Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
           Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
Allows successful candidates to instruct lifesaving courses.

Aquatic Emergency Care 
Basic Swimming Ability Canadian Lifesaving Manual required. Can be purchased at the Aquatic Center for $28 
November 14th to November 16th 
Times: Friday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 
           Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
           Sunday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
Recognized standard first aid course that focuses on water emergencies.

Arthritis Aquacize:
3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays 
$3.50 Drop-In Fee 
A workout designed for joint mobility.

The Whiskey Man
An account of the Balmoral Hotel/ Bronfman saga from its early days up to the hotel's demise by fire in 1985.
