Smoke Free Public Places Meeting


You are invited to attend a public meeting 
with respect to a Smoke Free Yorkton.

The Council of the City of Yorkton has given 1st reading to Bylaw No. 38/2003—The Smoke Free Public Places and Work Places Bylaw.

Members of the Public and/or Business Community have been invited to make a presentation at this meeting. These presentations will be followed by a question and answer period. Council will be in attendance to hear the presentations.

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 74 of The Planning and Development Act, 1983 hereby gives notice of its intention to consider a Discretionary Use Application for:

The Discretionary Use, which is being applied for is to allow for the development of a Residential Care Home in this location.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday, 08 March 2004 in City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 7:00 p.m. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the public hearing in respect to this Application is in session.

Leisure Services Parks Department Seasonal Labourers

The Parks Department is seeking interested individuals who would like to work in the Parks Department. Several positions may exist in the casual/seasonal area with employment commencing in early spring and may continue until fall. Positions may be open in sport field maintenance, grass cutting and horticultural areas.

Individuals with experience in landscaping, parks maintenance in sport fields or playground equipment areas, grass cutting and operation/maintenance of mowing equipment, operation of farm type equipment and general maintenance practices are all considered to be an asset for the positions. Applicants with courses related to Pesticide Applicators License, Playground Inspectors Certificate, Turf maintenance related courses, sport field maintenance training and WHIMIS and OH & S training are also considered to be an asset for the job.

Public Works Department Seasonal Labourers

Positions available in both road construction and concrete construction. Applicants must be willing and capable of performing various manual labour duties for the above areas under varied weather conditions. Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License and possess and maintain a R.C.M.P. Security Clearance. Preference will be given to applicants who have previous construction experience.

4 - Full Time Summer Culture, Recreation and Sport Programmer Positions

The programmers will be responsible for development of the Summer Programs within the City of Yorkton. You will be responsible for planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating the Summer Program for children and youth 6 -11 years of age.

Deadline: Applicants are to submit their resume complete with three references and phone numbers no later than 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2004.

Business License Fees 

Pursuant to the adoption of Business License Bylaw 24/2003 new fees for Business Licenses have been adopted.

A Business License shall not be issued nor considered valid without payment of fees as prescribed in Table 15.1.

  1. Applied one time only at time application is received.
  2. Applies to: 
    each third party document required for consideration prior to issuance of license; any change of information; and license renewals if for any reason the license was canceled at any time by the license holder.
  3. Applied at time of application and each year during continued operation of the business.
  4. Applied as the Annual Renewal fee for all applications received after September 1, in application year only.
