Public Notice 
Proposed Bylaw No. 27/2004

The Council of the City of Yorkton, pursuant to Section 25(1) and 102(1) of the Cities Act, hereby gives notice of its intention to consider the passing of Bylaw No. 27/2004 to establish a Business Improvement District (BID). The BID, which is illustrated in the map below, includes portions of the Highway Commercial (C-3) zoning district west of the number nine highway, the City Centre Commercial (C-1) zoning district, with the exception of Myrtle Avenue and York Road, and the Arterial Commercial (C-2) zoning district in its entirety.

The proposed Bylaw may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, all holidays excepted, and up until 12:00 noon Friday December 10th, 2004. Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday December 13th, 2004 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00pm. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Call for Representation
Commissions of Council - 2005

The City of Yorkton is inviting applications from people interested in serving on the various Commissions of Council for the year 2005. Appointments will be made in January to the following:

Development Appeals Board Economic Development Commission

stimulate Economic Development activities in the City and area.

Leisure Services Commission (includes Municipal Heritage Advisory and Deer Park Advisory)

advise City Council on all matters pertaining to leisure services and required community services.

Municipal Planning Commission (includes Public Transit and Airport Services)

investigate and study land use, population, transportation and any matter that affects the development of the municipality.

Yorkton Local Library Board and Parkland Regional Library Board 
Yorkton Housing Corporation

maintain and operate self-contained housing units for the accommodation of low-income seniors on a not for profit basis.

Protective Services Commission

advise City Council on matters regarding safety and protection of people and property in the municipality.

Youth Advisory Committee

(open to youth ages 16 - 20)

Janitorial Services

Tourism Building Tenders must be received by 2:00 p.m. on December 6, 2004. Tenders shall remain open for acceptance by the City and irrevocable for thirty (30) calendar days following the date specified for tender closing. Tenders received after the date and time specified for closing will be marked late and returned unopened.

Queen Street Construction

Construction is in progress for the installation of a pipeline along Queen Street from Highway # 10 South to Gladstone Avenue South. This pipeline is required for our new Water Treatment Plant Expansion. Please take extra caution when traveling in this area and obey all flagmen.

Building Permits

Please note, that pursuant to City of Yorkton Bylaw No. 28/2002, all persons in the City of Yorkton intending to construct, erect, place, alter, repair, renovate, demolish, relocate, remove, or change occupancy of any building within the City of Yorkton are required to apply to the Building Services Office of the City of Yorkton and pay such fee as is described in Bylaw 28/2002.

Value of Construction Permit Fee
First $100,000.00 $5.00/$1,000.00
Balance Over $100,000.00 $4.00/$1,000.00
Demolition Or Removal Permits $25.00
Minimum Permit Fee $25.00
For Work Commenced Prior to Issuance of Permit  2 x Calculated Permit Fee

Christmas Break Kids Convention

An opportunity for children ages 6 -12 to participate in 
recreational activities over the Christmas break. 
A variety of sports, games and crafts with a seasonal theme.
